Thought For the Day

[Gary O]

When you're on your way to school, and a car drives by and splashes a puddle of water all over you, it's hard to decide if you should go to school like that or try to go home and change and probably be late. So while he was trying to decide, I drove by and splashed him again.

A man on a date wonders if he'll get lucky. The woman already knows.

Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won't expect it back.

Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.

Good ones, Carla

Do not attribute to malice what can as easily be attributed to stupidity.

Even at a Mensa convention someone is the dumbest person in the room.

For every problem there is one solution which is simple, neat and wrong.

"We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes." -- John Swinton -- New York Times -- New York Press Club

"A man on a date wonders if he'll get lucky. The woman already knows."

You would  be surprised at how many are surprised by what happens.

OK, this is cheating -- but I love some of the signature lines on here!  The one that always cracks me up is, "Hey, y'all, watch this!"  Talk about a good use of minimalism . . . .

Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Be nice to your kids. They'll choose your nursing home.

Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.

Don't argue with a fool. The spectators can't tell the difference.

Don't believe everything you think.

How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you're on.

A free society is one where it is safe to be unpopular.

A word to the wise ain't necessary – it's the stupid ones that need the advice.

Anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

             Ineptocracy

(in-ep-toc'-ra-cy) - a system of government where the
least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing,
and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves
or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the
confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

[mgramann]

I like that Sassy.  I quoted it on another forum I belong to.

It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.      ~~Mark Twain

Quote of the Day...

"If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made
that happen."

— US President Barack Obama

Obviously he thinks that... it's just like getting the Nobel Peace Prize....

[rick91351]

I am afraid you miss quoted the President of the United States.....

According to his own campaign rebuttal what he actually said was:

"If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made
that happen."

— US President Barack Obama

I know they both sound a lot alike but....   So come on Glenn let be fair...........................

[glenn kangiser]

I suppose now people will be wanting me to apologize, Rick...

You got me fair and square... but at least you can't play the race card on me because I have tons of African friends.. some from Obama's birthplace in Kenya...

What do you have to say about that?

OK.. I might have made that last part up...

Hey I will offer an olive branch lets look at it the other way.

If you've got a business and it tanks, you never tanked it.  Somebody else made it happen!

[glenn kangiser]

Darn.. I miss ol' Rick....

I was just fishing in the City of Angels... Angels Camp and the Public Works Foreman, Jon Kitchell told me of the best fishing locations he knew... nice guy.

Here is a cool thing their city people have done.... Declared it a Kindness Zone with extra effort made to help kids there.

Based on this....

"Random acts of kindness are those sweet or lovely things we do for no reason except that, momentarily, the best of our humanity has sprung into full bloom. When you spontaneously give a stranger the bouquet of red carnations you had meant to take home to your own dinner table, when you give your lunch to the guitar-playing homeless person who makes music at the corner between your two subway stops, when you anonymously put coins in someone else's parking meter because you see the red "EXPIRED" medallion signaling to the meter maid -you are doing not what life requires of you, but what the best of your human soul invites you to do." (Daphne Rose Kingma, from the book Random Acts of Kindness, by Dawna Markova, Conari Press)

Maybe more of us should implement that policy and see what happens.
