Hard to tell the best place to insert this.....   ???

I was getting around to getting a couple of carb gasket kits for my Husqvarnas. The local sources seemed priced high and a look at the web proved that correct. I had several web sites open and the prices varied some, with a few low ball parts prices countered by high shipping fees. Then I clicked on a link on one of the sites......  not sure which one. That brought up a page that showed other applications for the part number. A click found the same part number fit my Husky and a Poulan.

On reflection that should be no real surprise, the saw manufacturers don't build their own carbs after all. The surprise was that the Husky kit was some $5 more than the Pulan kit. Same number. Same picture. So being the cautious sort I ordered one of each. I do believe they will be the same, but want to be sure I do have one that fits right now. Or next week when they arrive.

That also is not really surprising. Way back when I was much younger I worked in an auto parts wholesaler warehouse. I discovered that the exact same aftermarket piston rings were packaged under different part numbers for two different engines. I think one was Chevy and the other maybe Caddy or some car that cost more. The pistion rings for the Chevy were cheaper. Same stuff.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Yeah, no surprise at all, Don.
What kinda broke my heart a bit was discovering Husky and even Stihl outsourced all their carbs to Asia, so, yeah, nuthin' (or not much) is pure any more.
Oh, but there's a newish term being bandied about in the manufacturing world....I believe it's called 'reshoring'....once we get the dollar to become worth less than the paper it's printed on, we'll be buildin' things once again.........kinda makes ya well up a bit
I'm enjoying all that I own, the moment.
