New Yorkers soon to get emergency cell phone alerts in what Bloomberg calls 'quantum leap forward'

The poll has three choices,

Yes. This is a valuable service - sign me up.
No. Get off my phone and out of my life.
   Not sure.

I chose number 2 and it turned out that 83% of the people did too.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

I would imagine for people who live in an area where terrorist attacks have already occurred,  and are likely to occur again,  this might be a usefull service.

I live in a low threat area,  so it wouldn't do me much good.
Give me a place to stand and a lever long enough,  and I will move the world.

I would have thought so too archimedes,. That's why I thought the poll results were interesting.

I was listening to stories of the Japanese aftermath and earthquake warnings in California.  Thousands dead and the only wish (after the fact) they had was some way to warn them.  It turns out no one really wants to be warned.  A tsunami or earthquake on the east coast would wipe out millions, let alone terrorism.
