OPEC sells oil for $128.00 a barrel.

OPEC nation's buy U.S. grain at $7.00 a bushel.

Solution:  Sell grain for $128.00 a bushel.

Can't buy it?
Tough!
Eat your oil!

Scott, my first thought to your suggestion was that the last thing this world needs is such
logical, practical thinking. But, on further thought, this could work... maybe you could let
Congress know your idea... committees could be formed, polls taken, a few studies, statistics
drawn up and in a few years that just might work. :)

It could work if congress critters could make the profit, from it, but you would have to trick them into thinking they were somehow beating the public out of something -- something kind of sneaky, worthless and underhanded --- straight honest profit wouldn't cut it.

Maybe you could convince them that the profit would somehow go to benefit the country they have sworn to uphold and protect.   Israel.

The guy that did this in the states (Stan Meyer) was made mysteriously dead, but Japan has done it again.

Currently, the problem as I see it is not oil or the lack thereof.  It is that there are a limited number of suppliers and many factors that affect the price by the time we get it.

The way to make the price go down is to lower the demand for it permanently -- as much as possible.  When they are drowning in their own oil the price will drop.  Motivation for these guys is money.  If it's not coming in they will lower the price -- and all of the sudden there will be plenty of oil.

Law of supply and demand all over again.

amazing, can't wait for this to come to the masses. might be one reason oil is so high, kind of a last gasp.
you also might enjoy looking at the air car by a french inventor. engine runs on compressed air and when the tanks get low an on board compressor kicks in and pressurizes again. i don't remember what the compressor runs on but even if it's gas it will be very cheap to operate. heard the price will be around $15,000 and he has about three or four models. i heard that investors are lined up outside the door. [cool]
unless we recognize who's really in charge, things aren't going to get better.

If the water car really works some oil company will buy the patent and it will vanish off the face of the earth. Back in the 1970's my dad worked with a guy who designed a motor that would get 200 miles to the gallon of gas. They took it to a trade show in chicago and sold the design. It was never seen again.

I don't have many doubts about that.

I can't remember where I read it, but someone has already thought of OGEC; the Organization of Grain Exporting Countries.  Patterned after OPEC, we would only sell grain to oil producing countries if they in turn would sell us oil at a reasonable price.

I'll see if I can find the reference.

And, I hope no one mentioned it above, as I may have missed it.  If so, sorry.
