Yep here we go (maybe) the perfect Democrat War, tell the people it's for human rights and they will believe anything. Of course sanctions will have hardly any affect on the regime oligarchs. Only the poor Libyan people will suffer, much like in Iraq, where upwards of 1 million people died in between the gulf wars, because of the U.S. led, U.N. sanctions. Maybe Obama want's to be a real war president like Dubya  [noidea'  Hopefully this does not come to pass and the Libyan people take control of their own destiny ?

muldoon

I have stated this for years, and I still say it is 100% true.

Everything you ever need to know to understand foreign policy is in here. Everything from who are the good guys, who are the the bad guys, why do we hate some bad guys and tolerate other bad guys?

glenn kangiser

That is a lot of it I think, muldoon, though it looks like we are a lot deeper in the planning and orchestration of this chain of events than a lot of people realize.

Plan was for it to seem like Libyan and middle eastern people are taking their leaders out.  Ghadafi is resisting so now we have started ordering him to step down.  If he continues to foil Obama's regime change I look for BO to step in.

Oil prices going up due to unrest will likely lead to increased profits for a while I think.  Maybe a motivator too?

The War Party's Atrocity Porn

http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2011-01-01T00%3A00%3A00-07%3A00&updated-max=2012-01-01T00%3A00%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=1

"I've described agitprop of this variety as "atrocity porn." It is designed to appeal to prurient interests and manipulate a dangerous appetite -- in this case, what Augustine calls the libido domimandi, or the lust to rule over others.

The trick is to leave the target audience at once shivering in horror at a spectacle of sub-human depravity, panting with a visceral desire for vengeance, and rapturously self-righteous about the purity of its humane motives. People who succumb to it are easily subsumed into a hive mind of officially sanctioned hatred, and prepared to perpetrate crimes even more hideous than those that they believe typify the enemy."

Will 'we' fall for it again ?

Islamabad—The United States, Britain and France have sent several hundred "defence advisors" to train and support the anti-Gadhafi forces in oil-rich Eastern Libya where "rebels armed groups" have apparently taken over.

According to an exclusive report confirmed by a Libyan diplomat in the region "the three Western states have landed their "special forces troops in Cyrinacia and are now setting up their bases and training centres" to reinforce the rebel forces who are resisting pro-Qaddafi forces in several adjoining areas.

A Libyan official who requested not to be identified said that the U.S. and British military gurus were sent on February 23 and 24 night through American and French warships and small naval boats off Libyan ports of Benghazi and Tobruk.

The Western forces are reportedly preparing to set-up training bases for local militias set-up by the rebel forces for an effective control of the oil-rich region and counter any push by pro- Qaddafi forces from Tripoli.

Other reports claim that efforts to "neutralize" the Libyan Air Force were also underway to limit Qaddafi's rule in Tripoli if not fully uprooted from the country.

Meanwhile, three Indian Navy warships, are also being dispatched to be deployed in the rebel-held areas of Libya.

According to reports the Indian Navy has already sent two warships plus one its largest amphibious vessel INS Jalashwa. According to defence experts "Jalshwa" is the largest ship of Indian Navy which was delivered by the U.S. four years ago. Jalashwa, formaly the USS Trenton, has the capability to embark, transport & land various elements of an amphibious force & its equipped with mechanised landing craft, Sea King helicopters & armed with raders, ship to air missiles & rapid firing guns."

Just as we only hear what the sold out MSM media whores want us to, the gang rape Lara Logan  story in Egypt is shown to be false by eyewitnesses.

They will not cover that story though.  I smelled a rat when I first read the official story.  I have a Muslim friend from Egypt.  That would not be his style.

QuoteI
went to ask Abdulrahman Elsayed, and he related a similar account. "I
was in front of her, one metre away. This was after I saw her running
with a man beside her. They stopped, maybe because someone blocked their
way. We formed a human chain to protect her. Only young people, 10 or
15, all men. We surrounded her. People behind us were pushing and trying
to grab her, someone might have touched her. I saw her top was uneven.
There was a women and children's tent (Tahrir sq. had become a campsite)
and we tried to take her there, but we couldn't because of the
pressure. Someone had a taser and he held it high, making electric
noises and threatening the attackers. He told them to move away. So we
could go to the Museum's military post and deliver her to the soldiers.
Then we stood there blocking the people who tried to follow her. We
brought her two doctors, first a young male, then an older female. The
doctor and Lara were the only women around."

The mainstream media will only tell you what the elite - our government - want you to hear and they will seldom retract their major lies.

The gang rape story in a public place story was totally against what the Muslims believe.  They would more likely have stoned her to death or killed her If she had committed a major atrocity, but not a gang rape in a public place.  I read somewhere she was possibly suspected of spying and found out but not sure about the circumstances.

Just an example of the lies our propaganda machine tries to make us believe.

Yep the UK landed special forces..................

they were used to recover UK people out in the desert regions in drilling rigs and camps...........

No way would nato or european countries on their own set up training camps , what a load of ###

Presumably those reported countries did the same thing...........

Plus what normally happens when people are evacuated by military ships...........marines out first and secure the docks, we did that too

Indian warships......wow what a surprise..............

Indians and Philapinos provide 99% of all cooking cleaning and manual labor jobs throughout the middle east.

I have lived and worked in Libya..........they lived in fear of the secret Police, I even had my own secret policeman follow me everywhere I went...

back a few years though ......around 15..things have improved slightly since then

why now.............the success of others made them brave ...........

I hope they succeed and finally join the rest of the relatively free world.

Listening to Al Jessira you get a better on the ground view of whats happenning ...the other part I get from my Libyan co-worker who is spending every night trying to get through to his family.

Being that 100% of all western reporters are basicly banned from there accept for the odd paid trip seeing staged acts, I would be carefull of what you believe!

Earlier on Tuesday, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the USS Kearsarge, an amphibious ship capable of carrying up to 2,000 Marines, and the USS Ponce assault ship will be passing through the Mediterranean shortly, Reuters reported Tuesday.

According to top US military officials, the Kearsarge warship will be carrying 400 Marines from the United States and will be joining the USS Enterprise, which is in the Red Sea en route to the Suez Canal.

On Monday, the United States positioned naval and air forces around crisis-hit Libya as the Libyan regime's bloody crackdown on anti-government protests continue to rage in the North African country.

The United States, along with Britain and France, has also sent hundreds of Special Forces to Libya's east. The forces are setting up bases in the cities of Benghazi and Tobruk.

More behind the scenes info.

It's a humanitarian aid mission, Windpower.  We always send Marines and warships for humanitarian aid...... [waiting]

I admit they supposedly have been told to hold off right now, but I guess we will just have to wait to see what happens, eh?

What I understand is that we are stretched to the limit in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan as well as many other foreign countries.  Possibly we need more cannon fodder......

It's tough being the boss of the world..... [noidea'

QuoteIn a further indication that the US and Britain are once again preparing to flout international law, the Financial Times said, "Erdogan's comments suggest it could be difficult for a Western military operation to be conducted under NATO auspices. NATO tends to take decisions on military action by consensus. If it is unable to reach this consensus, the US and UK may be forced to mount a no-fly zone using an informal coalition of willing states."

QuoteAddressing a Senate hearing Tuesday, General James Mattis, commander of US Central Command, said, "My military opinion is that it [no-fly zones] would be challenging. You would have to remove air defence capability in order to establish a no-fly zone, so no illusions here. It would be a military operation—it wouldn't be just telling people not to fly airplanes."

In other words, it would mean bombing Libyan airbases and planes.

Itchy trigger finger I bet ...waiting for someone to say go....... [waiting]

According to this Israel is supplying Gadhafi 50000 merc's at $200 per day per man.  The US just had the UN declare Merc's in Libya immune from ICC - prosecution for war crimes ... in case ours or Britain's get caught I assume.

I do believe if there weren't such new media paths as there are today, the U.S. would have crushed this rebellion weeks ago for the simple reason of stability in oil production.  Although I am not really encouraged by these rebellions.  They seem to happen every few years around the middle east, and nothing really changes.  Just another dictator replaces the last to victimize their own people. Whether they are friendly to the U.S. or not seems to make no difference.

Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

I edited the post.  The youtube feed wouldn't load at first. I didn't realize they were african not israeli mercs. It is a little strange that the news feed has a caption about Israeli settlements, yet the voice over has nothing to do with that.

Further Edit: Press TV is actually the Iranian Government broadcasting entity.

UK SAS caught with arms and other technical equipment in bags...........................

Normally a soldier, sas or not carries his weapon and shoots people who who want to take him captive.........

armed rescue mission or an armed incursion in another country.?

My monies on the protected rescue mission low profile, with a misdirection on landing zone/ and or the contacted locals were late for the meet.........

It won't be the first time a night drop ended up in the wrong place !

Locals captured the team I presume that the SF were not shooting.........as there is zero mention of casualties, even on local arab stations here in Qatar

happens every year..........? I question that comment as most of the present regimes in the middle east are all 20 years plus in place,

some being better than others

Do I like like living and working NO,

do I even like the locals, (I'll answer that at the end of the month when my family and I are on the other side of the Atlantic !)

Being here means I see and hear a diferent side to the issues than in US or UK media.

Not saying its any better, just diferent.....

and you still need to read between the lines, as the average reporter has never been in the military, and understands little or nothing about the big scary real world

accepted that the reporters on the ground obviously have a good View !

Locally we had the rumor that 1 libyan plane landed in malta rather than bomb his own people......presumably its on its way to hanger 57 !

glenn kangiser

Thanks for your viewpoint, UK4x4.  I'm sure they were not shooting as I'm sure they would have done some damage.  Many times the pros are set up by leaders who have their heads where the sun doesn't shine.  I'm thinking of Rumsfeld in the past.

I understand that two Libyan planes defected.   http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/02/21/us-libya-protests-malta-idUSTRE71K52R20110221
I also heard that a lot of the reporting of Gadhafi shooting his own was exaggerated and some was lies as proven by satellite pix from Russia.

I think Gadhafi has been ruling there for around 30 years.

You are right, Squirl, African mercs hired through an Israeli company, though a lot of the alternative media spins it to look like Israeli mercs.   Interesting that the US set it up so no mercs will be prosecuted for war crimes with the UN... I see that as indication of criminal intent right there.   Sorry - I didn't read the caption about the settlements.  I haven't ventured into that conflict much.

Thanks for the info on Press TV - I didn't know that.  Nice to be able to look at both sides then weigh the stories out and try to find a balance.

Thinking about what you said, Squirl.... stability in oil production.  I don't think that is how they play the game any more.

I think they want the instability in oil now.  I think we will see profits go way up due to these events.  Less oil for more money.  Wholesale goes up a little... retail goes up a lot and doesn't come down.  The other thing that happens when the price goes up for a long period is it makes it cost effective to start drilling here again... might even give the people the urge to fight environmentalists...another ploy in manufacturing consent...make them cry for it.

High dollar rigs with high dollar workers need lots of profit to function.  I did repairs and welding on the oil rigs in the late 70's.  The game hasn't changed much.

The last few days all the regular neocon players were making rounds on the talking heads t.v. "news" shows. All in favor to American military use in Libya. The system trotted out Rumsfield, David Frum, Newt Gingrich, John McCain, John Kerry, William Kristol, Charles Krauthammer (sp), etc, and of course the zionist-neocon Joe Libberman. It looks like U.S. military action will happen in some form.
