I have no idea if this thing actually performs well or not. However, it is interesting.

Anyone ever try it? It's been available for about a year now apparently.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Harbor Freight has several.  I have one.  They work well.  Maybe called Non-contact thermometer.  I use mine often.  I check terminal temps under heavy charge to fine loose ones.  They build heat under heavy charge or load due to resistance - a heater.

Thanks for the tip.  I started easy with a cheapo, $10 one at Harbor Freight.  It just gives a temp reading, but for checking for drafts, leaks, etc, it confirms what one might suspect.  I might upgrade to the $50 one later.

That's a great start, Mike.  I use mine often for lots of things.  Even for seeing why I'm a wimp in the summer time.  104f in the shade can convert to over 200 degrees in the sun under the right conditions.  I was working over galvanized steel and in front of reflective glass - read solar oven...
