General Forum / How can I go from no experienc...
Last post by MelisaTreutel - August 14, 2025, 11:30:38 PM
If there's a better sub for this question, please direct me.

It's been a dream of mine to do something like this. I'd love to build a simple small home or even an off-grid cabin. Of course, I can't just drive out to the woods and start building. I have zero experience in carpentry, framing, woodworking. I don't know how draw up plans, create a model, etc. What kind of path would you recommend I take to start learning the skills needed to make this happen someday? Apologies if this is too generic of a question. Just looking for a start point. Thanks y'all.

Quote from: jsahara24 on July 15, 2024, 09:00:44 AMThe website says if you buy any of their house plans you can get them, so it seems that the cheapeast way is for you to buy the little house plans for 225$ and they will send you the plans you want.

Now I dont' fault you for trying to get them cheaper, but don't be upset that they want to make money.  They are trying to run a small business which is becoming tougher with every passing year.
haha...I love crow so look forward to it!  Seriously though don't be offended by my comments, i'm just a guy who understands how difficult it is to run a small business...
And of course, crow is not on the menu. Why should I shell out $225 for something I don't want? I also understand the ups and downs of running a small business, and this is not a business model that works.

Version 4.0.8 - 07.25.2025
- Enabled LSL as a wall framing material.
- Updated the material textures for LSL and PSL.

These don't seem like major updates however there are numerous places within the plugin that required updating and also during the process I was able to further refine and compress the code so it is now more efficient and better organized.  Updates were made to the following modules:  Walls, Stairs, Columns, Beams, Posts and Shearwalls.

Some Youtube viewers of this video reached out and told me that they had more equipment than could reasonably fit within such a small structure.  I agree, maybe a 16'x12' space is a bit cramped for anyone, especially if you are also using it for a content creation studio.  This is where the parametrics of the extensions come in real handy:

The model(s) can be viewed and downloaded here:
