I've been convinced here that tar paper beats building wrap, especially in my case where which ever covering it is...it'll likely have to weather the winter before we can get to siding.
I'm guessing I install the tarpaper with it running horizontaly.
I imagine applying from the bottom up.

Do I overlap the next higher application over the bottom one?  By how much?
god helps those who help them selves

#1:  Yes from the bottom up

#2:  Horz,

#3: Over lap about 2" there's all most always lines on the felt there's one about 2" from each edge .

If it's gonna over winter it may be ruined come spring, felt is pretty cheap so that may not matter much.

Will the roof be shingled ?? If so and you will not be visiting the place in the winter I'd not paper it at all , that being said IF the roof is on and your in the dry.

Not that much water blows in thru window and door holes , in fact I'd not cut those out either , I'd leave it as closed up as the sheathing would allow.

Conversly IF you used Typar / Tyvek it would also be well beyond  the manf. warrenty due to sun exposure.

When in doubt , build it stout with something you know about .
