Hello have searched the web but can not find what i am looking for.   The cos ot Pt wood is high.   1 x 6 material warps so easily and  for my application  2 x 6 is over kill and the 5/4 deck boards are so costly but a good size for structural reasons.  my local mill can supply me with rough cut 1 x 6 wood at a good price and the quality is high.  price is  3.25 dollars each and  the material is yellow pine.  is there a way to treat this wood so it will last say 10 years from rot and bugs as a do it yourself thing or do i just bite the bullet.  the local mill says he would  possibbly PT the rough 1 x 6's for me but has not given me a price yet,  i do expect the saving to be very god over decking material do to less labor in the planing and bull nose.

any thoughts?

You could pressure wash the sawdust off - spray it with borate treatment with a garden sprayer then put a coat of DEFY on it to 98% water proof it.  You will only get to treat the back side once before you install it I assume so future treatments wouldn't help it, but it wouldn't suffer from UV degradation either so that may work.  No guarantees but that seems like one of your better solutions.
