Anyone tell me why we need to import Dog food from China? I have no idea why we would import any grain from outside our own borders when we produce enough. I just do not understand.

Corporate profit --biggest gap between the selling price and net cost.

I did some repairs at a commodities plant -  nasty-- the toasted ground up meat bones etc is ground up for dog food ingredients  and other uses -- I think that is how they spread mad cow -- feeding it back to cattle for protein. 

In the 70's the tallow was sent to Japan for food use.
