Boise, Idaho is very proud to be the headquarters of the National Interagency Fire Center.

Their web site has lotos of information on current fires, fire mapping and up to date information on fires currently burning in the United States.  You can spend a lot of time on some of the rabbit trails and links.

Today I was visiting there and found a lot of Photos that might be of interest to people in NM, Az, Co, Utah and of course Idaho with the current hot topic the Trinity Ridge Fire most likely will go over 100,000 acres today or tomorrow.

Idaho is close to 300,000 acres just in the three major fire burning now.

Active fire behavior with group tree torching. Numerous structures threatened. Evacuations and area closures
in effect. Precipitation occurred over the fire area yesterday.

Mustang Complex (3 fires), Salmon-Challis NF. IMT 1 (Joseph). Twenty-eight miles west of North Fork, ID.
Timber. Active fire behavior with short crown runs. Numerous structures threatened.

Halstead, Salmon-Challis NF. NIMO (Houseman). Eighteen miles northwest of Stanley, ID. Timber. Moderate
fire activity. Numerous structures threatened. Area closures in effect.

Good website.

For a quick, searchable map of US wildfires I use the GeoMAC website http://www.geomac.gov/index.shtml  and then click on the "GeoMAC Viewer" words near the top left of the screen.  Gives you a good sense of what is happening where.

For information on California fires, use the CalFIRE's website here: http://cdfdata.fire.ca.gov/incidents/incidents_current
