OK... weirdness with my new windows 7 box.

whenever I position the cursur into the taskbar, it turns in to the busy cursor circle.  I can't operate any of the items in the taskbar, including "Start"

Task manager even things there are no applications running.  I've tried a full power off and restart.  I'm about to pull the battery and see what is going on.  If that does not resolve I'll do a full McAfee scan for viruses.

Any ideas?  I did a bunch of google searches but found nothing.

Grrrrr......

I have seen that circle quite a bit... You will see part of it in the top left  corner of the Hooters calendar, but I don't see many extended problems with it.

There is a better task manager called Process Explorer by Sysinternals, who works with Microsoft.  You can set process explorer to replace your task manager so that when you hit control -alt-del, it will come up instead of task manager - when you open task manager in Win7.  It has a graph running at the top of the page that you can run your cursor over to tell you what is using the processor - memory- etc plus a lot more detail that the old task manager.  I used it in XP and it seems to work fine in Win7 also.  Other than that I am not much help I don't think... Well, a complete de-power "fixed" it.  I have this love / hate relationship with my computer.

I found the problem, as this happened a few more times.  I used the task manager and looked at processes to see what was using cpu / memory.  I have a "utility" program that came with this box called "Cinemanow".  It appears that it was the problem.  I updated the program and am waiting to see if the update fixes the issue.  If not, I'm scrubbing that crap off my hard drive.  I may do that anyway.

Funny how a little thing can upset all of that technology.
