Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

My mom had a big collection of 45s, and I can remember when I was about my oldest daughter's age, she spent a whole day one time trying to dub them all onto cassette tapes.  I still have one of the cassettes that she made from those old records, and you can hear the bird squawking in the background, the occasional outburst from the dogs, and my five-year-old voice hollering from the kitchen when I ran in the back door and forgot that I was under strictest orders to be quiet.  She still has the records, but they're probably ruined in her her house somewhere, for all I know, as she tends to be a clutterbug.  I still have hundreds of cassettes because when CDs came out, I thought that there was no way they'd ever catch on...  I didn't even see one until I was in highschool (they might have existed before then, but I was oblivious.)
