Since this has been on the news for several days, I would like the thoughts of this forum.
McCain:

Obama:

Ok, here is my delima.  Which is worse?  not knowing how many homes you own, or having a 10,000 sq ft house?  Just who is out of tough with John Q. Public?

I thought it sould be interesting to hear everyone's opinion since:
1.  Most of the people on this site own more than one "home" (I think).
2.  Most on this site are interested in small(er) home living.

I will let you comment on this over the weekend.  We are headed up-north to our land for a weekend of fishing and campfires with our 16 year old nephew.
Thanks
A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work any day, but building something with your own hands beats anything.

Personally I think they're both out of touch with "reality" for the rest of the world.  I don't like Obama because I feel like he is a schmoozer and is in no way fit for the office of president, but I'm not real crazy about McCain either...

They are both out of touch with reality, the public and how to deal with the rest of the world.  They are both big  business and war machine interests with no care for the lives or economy of the little people ( the citizens for whom they are not aware they are public servants).

The 20 billion a day war expenditures will continue until the country and financial system  is destroyed.  The transfer of wealth from poor to rich will continue unabated --we are borring from our children now to finance the fat cats but nothing will stop it until the house of cards tumbles.

While it might be refreshing to see a candidate who appears to be more like the average American there are not many who would likely own and live in a single family home of under a couple thousand square feet like most of the rest of the country. At least I'd be pleasantly surprised if they did.

However, all that matters little when faced with a choice of candidate Obama and candidate McCain. Okay there are others, independents, write ins, but the only two who stand a chance of election to president are Obama and McCain. A voter must make a choice based on their own personal criteria. On the scale I use, Candidate Obama comes up way short. Therefore even if I am not totally endeared with the choice of Candidate McCain I lean heavily in his direction.

Not that it matters one iota, MTL some of McCain's properties are listed in his wife Cindy's name so maybe he's confused by that. Nobody's asked if McCain's properties are smaller, bigger or comparable to the size of Obama's.

I'm not touching that one either.  All that could happen is I would get my foot stuck tightly in my mouth.  d*

For the curious, read this

7 homes, mostly owned (legal description) by Cindy McCain.

Next, a Google Earth tour...

We own more than one residential property, but fewer than 7. Not all have both our names on them, so I'm not certain how to count them. And they are all manageable sizes; 1600 square feet being the largest

I really don't care how many homes they own (we have 3) or how much money they have. I do care that they do the job they are running for in the way it was meant to be done. It doesn't seem that is likely to happen though.

obama made a liar out of himself when he announced biden...

The whole message for Obama was change... new faces... a change in the way america does things...

And then for VP he picks biden who like him or not...Is the most experienced stable choice...But what this really says is that Obama is surrounding himself with people that are used to the business as usual way of things.

Biden has foriegn policy experience...Which shows Obama is not going to end wars... or stop agressive tectics...Rather he picked someone who can keep doing business as usual

It all is sickening

Turns out someone says he has proof Osama is not a US citizen and is trying to stop him fast.

This is shaping up to be the wierdest election ever.

glenn kangiser

You forget - it's not an election - it's a pick of 2 offered choices that will be modified as necessary anyway. d*

I'd be ok with blindfolded darts if they would be the targets.

the whole not a us citizen is rather bizarre...I thought if one of your parents were a us citizen it was automatic... one of your god given rights that the citizenship passed down to the children of us citizens no matter where they lived?

glenn kangiser

I guess they are going for the world government thing now as neither offered choice is a US citizen.

Seems they could find a citizen out of the millions in the US who was good for the country, but then that wiould not help them to push their plan forward.

Peter's onto something... A child of a US Citizen born abroad gets all the accouterments of citizenship that a person born on USA soil receives. The birth has to be properly registered to qualify, but it's simple paperwork.

There have been arguments made (about McCain) stating that the rule to be eligible for president are different, but from what I've seen the arguments come from the opposition.

The way I see it I don't care if you were born in Afghanistan or wherever, if one parent was  US Citizen, and if the birth abroad paperwork was filed (the parent gets a special "birth abroad" birth certificate), then the child is an American and is he/she wants to become president, fine.
