The Communists use cattle prods and the American LEOs have tasers.  Just because it comes in a neat little package doesn't make it more technologically advanced, it's still electrocution.  Are there scenarios I'd agree with deploying tasers?  Yes.  Should it be employed regularly?  Absolutely not.  It's "Shock and Awe" for the American public.

I have nothing against the taser. If used correctly it has it's place. However like any wepon the conditions for it's use need to involve a threst to the officer in the same way a gun would allowed to be used. If the suspect is unarmed and not activly attacking the officer the taser should not be allowed to be used. This should be policy at all police departments. Instead they use it to force their will on people and to punnish them for being uncooprative. The police do not have the right to punnish anyone, that is the job of the courts and the jurys.
