If you use tabs or open more than one browser window you can have free music of the style you want to hear playing in the background.

Just type in a band name or song and they'll play it or similar -no sound commercials - ads appear on page.  Music plays continuously.  For Broadband - streams at 128k.  You can have lots of stations.  Hope I got that all right.

The Music Genome Project®

On January 6, 2000 a group of musicians and music-loving technologists came together with the idea of creating the most comprehensive analysis of music ever.

Together we set out to capture the essence of music at the most fundamental level. We ended up assembling literally hundreds of musical attributes or "genes" into a very large Music Genome. Taken together these genes capture the unique and magical musical identity of a song - everything from melody, harmony and rhythm, to instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics, and of course the rich world of singing and vocal harmony. It's not about what a band looks like, or what genre they supposedly belong to, or about who buys their records - it's about what each individual song sounds like.

Since we started back in 2000, we've carefully listened to the songs of tens of thousands of different artists - ranging from popular to obscure - and analyzed the musical qualities of each song one attribute at a time. This work continues each and every day as we endeavor to include all the great new stuff coming out of studios, clubs and garages around the world.

It has been quite an adventure, you could say a little crazy - but now that we've created this extraordinary collection of music analysis, we think we can help be your guide as you explore your favorite parts of the music universe.

We hope you enjoy the journey.

[cool] Glenn. Is there a way to have it on my desk top to easily access it. Also I had trouble with the help window on my computer and couldn't figure how to PU the stations they are referring to on the box to the left. Only thing came up was Southern Rap and bluegrass.  Bluegrass is fine with me just wanted to know the other options.

Sure -- just copy the link to your desktop, double click  and it will open the browser.  If you are a one window type of guy it will take that window if it's open so you will need to open another instance of your browser to do the net.

You can just type the name of a band you like and make it into a station when it opens - or view any other music offered and it will let you make a station out of it.  It will play songs that are similar or the one you chose but you will almost always always like what it plays.  I typed in rap and in a similar manner -- it gave me crap----  just a little joke there.  ::)

As I get more stations added -- no commercials to listen to - no annoying stupid DJ's -- plays in the background with a volume control on the page on on of my browser tabs, good quality stereo, I like it more and more.

Here is my profile so you can see how it works and my stations.

Well that was a   [shocked].  I guess that is what CA does fer ya.  Still like the music I can understand what the words are saying.  I haven't really set up to any particular artist mostly jus "blue grass". I do like it though. Just wish my puter was more on the ball too many wndows open at once.  Like driving an old car fast. Yes it will do it for a while and then it breaks down.

So -- you think I'm a head banger?  Old head banger. heh

There was some old stuff too though. [crz]

I usually have around 30 tabs open with the music playing.  I have to keep buying better laptops every time one breaks to be able to keep all that head banging going.  [frus]
