Tie-down questions...We have the 14' x 24' cabin plan and our building site led us to have a pony wall foundation.  The foundation sub put four HPAHD straps on the front (entrance) end of the cabin, but they only reach up to the mudsill.  The (Thurston) country people now state they didn't know the pony wall was gonna go on THAT end of the cabin when they approved the plan and state I need to re-engineer the plan to show how I'm gonna tie the cabin down.....

My foundation sub says all I need to do is extend the straps or drill and epoxy new anchors/straps......any similar experiences out there?

If the tie downs are the straps that are called out on the plan then I would use long straps such as the Simpson ST (strap ties) that can connect the hold down to the framing above. These typically nail into double studs.

None of us are as smart as all of us.
