We're putting 1x8 vertical pine (w/ 1x3 furring behind) on the interior walls of our 20x30.  Should we put this under the kitchen cabinets or put up the cabinets first and trim the panelling around them?  I can see advantages to both ways but I assume there's a standard way of doing this (or, even better, someone who has done it one way and wished they'd done it the other!).  There are only 6 cabinets total on the wall, including upper and lower.

Generally the wall covering is complete from the ceiling to the floor first.  There is exceptions one being that you tile a backsplash over the counter areas.  The amount of material to complete this process would be minimal in comparison to the added head ache of trying to trim around your cabinets.  You mentioned "Under your cabinets" but I assume you meant behind.
