I wished to hear criticism in occasion of design of a hall.
It is very interesting to hear your opinion and remarks.

I like the television area. The room looks amazing.
The random placment of bricks in the wall does not appeal to me.  
And the ceiling seems to be a little distracting from the other areas of the room.

I wonder if, long term, you might not be happier with a simpler ceiling. How about a white (at center) to blue gradation (at the walls) sky scene. It would raise the percieved height of the room and feel more open. It might feel curved or domed as well.

I think thats more a media room more than a hall. At least thats what I'd call it . Also it's a over the top / over done / to much going on. Most USA homes do not have that elorborate / fancy / media rooms , some do but IMO that would not be the average home. Your world view of America may be sort of inflated due to TV more than likely.

I like it for a media center as PEG mentioned.

While it is very modern to futuristic looking, the random bricks remind me of plastered adobe walls in Mexico with parts of the plaster peeling off exposing the brick  -- a cool ancient look by itself.

I like the look of the flooring. I think you should use built-in speakers though. Also, it looks like the fireplace is really shoved into the corner. Maybe pull it to the left or angle it to face into the room?

He wanted all unusual and modern.

Prompt where to search for potential clients for such works in the American market.
Who can that will state the ideas.

I'm with Bartholomew on the fireplace placement.  And with Glenn on the occasional bricks.

Built-in speakers would look better, but they might not be easily changed when your guy wants to upgrade.

Would a young and arrogant designer like a heated cob bench/rocket stove instead of a regular fireplace?  It is supposed to go against a wall, i.e., be background for that circular section.  But it's very heavy--thermal mass used as a heater for the room or even a whole building.  I expect it could be made a whole lot less funky looking than most of the pictures one is likely to find.  Top link is to the new and shiny edition of the book.  Walnut books (in Ireland, presumably easy to order from throughout Europe) doesn't have it on their web site yet, but probably will soon.
