This online calculator will advise you if might have a problem laying ceramic tile or natural stone on your built up wooden floor. Here in urban NM most everything is built on a poured slab, either a monolith or perimeter footing and separately poured slab. I just never think much about whether or not tile is going to be a problem; I must have about 60% of the floors here in ceramic over concrete. Have to re-frame my mindset when I'm doing my cabin-in-the-woods.

Also go to his home page  http://www.johnbridge.com/  for other info re ceramic tile

PLUS here's the link to his tile forums  http://johnbridge.com/vbulletin/index.php    ... claims to be the friendliest DIY forum on the internet but I think he's only in second place, after you know who.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Looks like lots of good info there, Mountain Don.  I have a tile or slate project coming up in the near future.

Fun friendly people make our site a fun friendly place, MountainDon, kinda like the looney bin, eh?

I'm off to work - like in a real job- helping to make a McDonald's in Sacramento area to feed the masses.  See you all later.  Everybody play nice, eh?
