Shower in a alcove?

I was wondering if anyone has done a walk in shower or bath in one of Johns alcoves? We had a really neat 2 person walk in shower once. It had no door or anything and was all tile and we loved it! I was thinking a way to do it and also add a little room to a small bathroom was to do a alcove but not sure if that would change things structurally?

to do a bath in an alcove would not mean any changes, as long as you don't cut out any of the cantilevered joists
