George Carlin tells it like it is regarding the current real life version of The American Dream.

Do not watch this if profanity offends you.  He uses a lot.

This person was upset enough that they wouldn't even say Happy New Year.

DH and I watched an old Frank Capra film with Jimmy Stewart in it the other day... it was "You Can't Take it With You".  There was a scene where the IRS comes to call on "grandpa" because he isn't paying taxes.  The ensuing scene was hilarious... watching it, I thought of Glenn and the rest of you here on this forum!  If only it was as simple as a Frank Capra movie...grandpa doesn't pay the taxes because he doesn't believe in them... he wants to know exactly what he is getting for his money and asks for an itemized bill of sale from the IRS.  The tax man eventually gets fed up and leaves... too bad it doesn't really work like that. :)

I did close to that -- refused an audit for 1 1/2 years because I just plain didn't have the time and didn't want to do it.  I never did go in but finally sent in copies of my invoices after negotiations to prove that I reported my income.  Got an accepted as filed immediately.  They were so tired of me and all the papers and affidavits I filed they were ready to accept anything.  I had a stack 2 inches thick. I believe .gov is monitoring the website I got the IRS law information and affidavits from.  Maybe I can find the 20 questions they won't answer and post them, but that would probably just start a bunch of trouble for others who really are not prepared to deal with them.

I will say don't try it if you are not prepared to stick with it to the end.  I hired an enrolled agent to finally settle it (outside contractor) -- that cost me $1500, but was well worth it.  Score Glenn -($1500) IRS $0 Yea team.

Sounds like what we did when it came to the INS second interview for DH's permanent green card.  When we went for the initial interview, our oldest was still a baby, and the INS interviewer just sort of took a liking to us.  She told us that when it came time for DH's permanent green card to come through that if we'd just send in gobs of paperwork showing that we paid bills together etc., and copies of family photos, vacation pics, etc, etc, etc, that they wouldn't even do the second interview, but would just grant the card based on the mass of paper.  We filled a recycled Avon box full of crap and sent it to them, and guess what?  No second interview required.  :)  Saved time and stress... we just had the box sitting there and would photo copy anything and everything and throw in the box for two years... it was pretty full... then we just sealed it up and shipped it to them.  It had everything from vacation photos to dorky pictures of DH and DD chasing chickens or working in the garden, pictures from the hospital of our second DD with me and her daddy right after she was born, etc.  At least there were no more long lines to wait in and no more fees and no more scheduling to mess with.

OK, I have absolutely no excuse left for staying in the house.... the cell phone is charged, the truck is warmed up, the dogs have been walked... and I've been shooting the bull all morning-- time to get going and brave the cold.

Nice find Glen. George nailed it!

i wish that george would do a standup bit on how you cannot legally live on your own land in america without permission and buying an occupancy permit...

You own the land..
You paid for it and pay taxes on it
But you cannot live on it without permission and paying a fee to do so

And I am sure that glenn will fill us in...I imagine that a occupancy permit somewhere on the form you have to sign something with small print...meaning that they can come and inspect your land....which opens the door to more permits needed more fees and fines if you are easily cowed...

I am not getting a permit for the house I build on in maine..I am just building...I am going to refuse to even talk with them....Just keep throwing them off my property....just for the sake of arguement.... Because it needs to be done.

need to stock up on those neat-o signs about tresspassing and land rights that glenn used to post all the time.

Lock the gate and demand to see a badge and a search warrant. It's worked for me more than once.

When you take out a building permit, it is their contract that you agree to in full unless you strike parts of it out.  In it you give them the power over you per their wording.

No guarantees on anything I tell you...  it is how I feel about it and what I do.  I may not always prevail but my beliefs and feeling that the Constitution allows me to do as I wish if not hurting anyone else will remain.

States are in violation of tons of the laws in section 9 and 10 of the Constitution - ex-post facto laws shall not be made should cover most of it.  Laws made after the fact - I read after the Constitution.

QuoteSection. 9. The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.

The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.

No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.

No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State.

No Preference shall be given by any Regulation of Commerce or Revenue to the Ports of one State over those of another; nor shall Vessels bound to, or from, one State, be obliged to enter, clear, or pay Duties in another.

No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

Section. 10. No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

No State shall, without the Consent of the Congress, lay any Imposts or Duties on Imports or Exports, except what may be absolutely necessary for executing it's inspection Laws; and the net Produce of all Duties and Imposts, laid by any State on Imports or Exports, shall be for the Use of the Treasury of the United States; and all such Laws shall be subject to the Revision and Controul of the Congress.

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

At my fathers business we have had to lock the gate and help the police along to got off our land... My dad gets all nasty when someone tells him what to do on his own land and more than once the cops have been called...So they come out...Without a warrant and I just refused to let them on the property... locked the gate and told them to beat it... And when there is nobody dead or bleeding they do just that...Though they have told me i had to open said gate or I was being arrested I told them go ahead I was not falling for that load of crap...

Awesome
