CC, I would not worry until I ran your system, had a shower, etc. You have a modern shower control most likely? One with the temperature regulation?   I'd only be concerned if you had trouble maintaining a comfortable and safe shower temperature.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.
