Often, our ignorance is not as great as our reluctance to act on what we know.

I would imagine 99% of the people on the social net working sites and forums would all say - "What I do is no ones business!"  Yet 90% make it someones business.  They can not avoid telling the world what is going on or bragging.  So enters the government.  I really do not think it matters much which government, they all watch the citizens.  They have always spied on their citizens and always will.  Now however they watch their citizens and others as well if the have the resources to do so.  Here in the USA we hardly could keep them from tapping hard wire now we broadcast our plans and troubles in front of the whole social networking scene to see.  So we are inviting them in and they just have to love it.

You want to go on a government data base just post - I just got me a Redhawk, - just loaded 2000 rounds of 9MM and 300 rounds of '06.  I got 300 pound of beans and rice stored.  Hey world; It is no ones business if you have 100 pounds of Spam, 300 pounds of beans and year's worth of MRE's.  Or that you have 3000 rounds 'stored' under you cabin.  Yet there is some man thing where we just got to walk up to the top of the knoll beat our chests and brag.  Or you let it out, "Hey I'm looking to buy a  ___."  (Love that one.)    Or you let it get around you do moon lighting as a gunsmith.  Someone knocks on your door and offers you $250 to take a few inches off a shotgun and bed a new stock on a rifle.  He might even have other work for you if you do good job.  Guy sort of looks okay.  You take it on, then a couple other jobs next thing you know someone else is knocking the door in because you.....

Guys and gals have some common sense here.  If you store food, store it but keep a lid on it.  If you have guns it is not any my business nor yours if I choose to own one.  If I were to order something concerning survival items I certainly would never over the internet.  I would never let anyone know what is going on in my house as far as security and survival.  The internet and these forums are a great place to exchange ideas and information.  But loose lips sink ships.  You know someone is monitoring this forum as well 100,000 others.  Looking for keystrokes and the general sentiments expressed.

I really do not think the governments of the world could allow the internet to go down.  It is just to easy to keep track of everything and everybody....
Proverbs 24:3-5 Through wisdom is an house builded; an by understanding it is established.  4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.  5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

I never got the social network bug...and I don't have empathy for those that seem to need to.  I think you guys see me at my most effusive, and that's not much.  Its pretty clear that many people say way too much about their personal life..and one doesn't need a social network to get into trouble over it.

Had a young man over here this summer doing odd jobs.  I was going through yet more boxes of "stuff" to help my mother clean out her garage.  In this box was a paper sack full of 22 cartridges.  He saw them.  I said "those must be Dad's".  He asked me if I had any guns.  I told him that was a terribly unfair question to ask me.  He got a lecture:

"If I say 'yes', no matter how nice a person you are, you may inadvertently mention it to someone who immediately looks at any arsenal I may have as a target for theft.

If I say 'no', no matter how nice a person you are, you may inadvertently mention it to someone who immediately looks at my place as an undefended target for theft.

So, I'm not going to answer."
   >:(

He apologized.  End of story.

Ajax

I have to say I find this neither alarming nor surprising.  I only have friends I know, and none are feds.

... and they watch us here too...dang - my wife is one, for that matter....

and we have others as well, but we are not trying to get away with anything.

I just want to raise awareness.... stuff put out here and on social networks is there for all to see ..no privacy and all monitored.

The bad thing about it is many don't think about it until it is too late but worse is that most don't even suspect it is going on.
