For the last couple of weeks the computer has been acting odd.
On the internet, I have to click alink twice to get through. First click, it will start to moe then stall. Second click it goes through. Statring yesterday the screen will freeze after the first link and if I click again the screen will go pale and lock up like a memory problem.

Today it's almost impossible to do anything on or off the net.

I tested the cpu and memory, ran three different virus programs and tested the hard drive. Everything passed except the hard drive. I can't get it to finish any of the tests. >:( >:( >:(

If I replace it, it will be the third drive in this machine. I think it may be time for a new laptop.

I have had hard drive problems before on my laptops.  I quit buying HP's.

Have gone to Toshiba now and think I will stay with them.

I found that Toshiba may be the best place to buy direct from after I bought mine from Amazon I think.

Toshiba was cheaper - I wanted the 18.4" as we watch videos on the computer.

Apricorn is a great place for hard drives though.  I get their kit for changing then you can keep the old one and plug it in for access or copy everything over including the system - if it still works.

They sent me their ads after I registered - a link if you want to check it out... http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/home.to

Don't buy a Toshiba Satellite... I hate mine.  Wish I'd bought just about anything else.
I have had problems similar to what you're having since the get go, and it is only around a year old.  It's had sticky keys since day one that insert letters where you never typed them.

I bought an Asus gaming laptop. I figured I might as well make a big upgrade because the video editing is demanding. $$$$$$ >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Mine does that Homey, but just because I am a sloppy typer....

The touch pad is extremely sensitive but could be adjusted if I wanted to.

I had many problems with HP and decided it was probably them cutting corners so they could give Fiorina an excessively large salary as she took the company down the hole.

Glad you got er covered, Peter.

I'm really not looking forward to Pinnacle 14. Those people have paranoid down pat and I understand it has issues with Win 7 too >:( >:(

Adobe CS5 went in without a glitch though.

I've had a Toshiba laptop, several HP's & now have a Gateway...  the HP's had problems w/the cord connection everytime but so far haven't had much problem w/the Gateway - sound isn't very loud most of the time but other than that, it seems to work ok.  Don't remember what happened to the Toshiba - think it totally crashed on me.

it is so strange to me how computers have become such a part of our lives that we can not remember what happened to about half of them.  Nor how many we have all traded out of.  Lets see now there was a Radio Shack, then a Packard Bell, then a ..... can't remember then one I built.... so it goes both desk tops and lap tops.

Honestly I think personal home computers are just a fad thing and will blow over in a year or two, just like the internet was and hula hoops....

What did you use to test the hard drive?

I sent it to my son to test. I don't know what diagnostics they used but whatever they used it was DOD compliant. He works for a defense contractor.
It's starting to make noise now so I'm trying to get my data before I have a head crash.
