I'm selling one of my cameras to upgrade so I put it on Craigslist.

What a great place. Within minutes I had an offer. No haggling, they took my price and asked if I could shipp to his daughter in West Africa.
It was a shame because I couldn't drive to a UPS outlet until I got the money that was coming from Uganda. (That's a sweet deal)...anyway, I had o pass.

I got a few more lowball offers and finally a Stockbroker in Richmond called and wants to look at it for his father today.

That's a shame also because I just got an email that said they would beat his price.

QuoteWould you be willing to ship this item to Las Vegas, Nevada 89113,?If
so may i know your best price including the shipping cost via
www.usps.com,how can i trust
you??because moneygram would be my prefer method of payment, once you
are okay with this e-mail me back,an i will need your name address
city state zipcode.thanks.

Oh well, a day late and a dollar short.

I explained I was too busy right now to ship it.

QuoteI'd be happy to just as soon as I finish getting all the money the king of Siam is sending me for the Bridge I sold him last week. I'm just too busy right now.

I used to toy with these folks until I got bored.

Does anyone fall for these scams anymore?

I have to wonder if they do but i suspect people who are desperate for cash sometimes do.
It's sad too because they are the ones least able to afford being scammed.

When providing name, address and phone number . . .    Don't forget to include your bank account and drivers license numbers.    d*

This way they can deposit funds directly into your accounts!

One of the latest scams involves receiving an e-mail stating that you bank account has a problem . . .    Looking very official with bank logos, etc.

Clicking on the provided link redirects you to another "official" site where they steal your account numbers and passwords.

I got one of those a few days ago from an online retailer.  They screwed up and my account # and order # were the same #.  The email was the your order "#" was charged to your visa.  Click here if you need to talk to a live support specialist.

People still fall for these all the time.  Most of the ones I see are the elderly, with a few marbles left rolling around.  They play to the basic human emotions of greed and fear and it works. The most successful ones I have seen is the "home business" processing domestic payments.  They send you a pile of fake checks and ask you to wire the money overseas.  Then the checks bounce and the person is out the difference.  The scam doesn't really work as much with the 1-2 day processing time on checks.  One of the few things congress has done right.

Congrads Peter sounds like you are going to be rich. ;) The last one of these deals I got was a military person shipping out and was going to ship me a Kawaski Mule for free shipping from Montana to Texas. I told him I was friends with a Comander on his base and he would be happy to come look at it I just needed his name and address. I love to play with these people e-mail them back and tell them to send the check but use really broken english and short sentences c*

A guy at work bought a four-wheeler off E-Bay.  He is still waiting.... year later and he has about given up..... says it never dawned on him the UK address.  Nor the fact that the person had never sold any thing on E-Bay before - no history.  I am serious...  Yes they do stay a live and well, but they do smarten up.... do not think he will fall for that one again...but...

Hey Texasgun is this the same guy ... I had a wonderful opportunity to buy a side by side four-wheeler the other day it was complete with a snow plow for $6000.  WOW talk about to good to be true...   It was almost new and in storage in Mt. Home close to the air force base.  The guy was stationed now in Texas where he never though he would see snow again.  He wanted me to send him a $500 down just to make sure I was interested and not scamming him.  Then he would send his buddy that is still at the base to unlock the unit for me.  And we could take a look at it, if I did not wanted his buddy would refund the $500.   It had pictures and all....
