Here is a short video of my son (15 yoa) at a student concert at a annual music workshop held in the county this year. A really good week of great music from the top musicians around the state. It came with a little added bonus this year. My son's teacher (Tim Bing)who was originally from this area years ago has always took a liking to my son who he described as having a great potential , decided that he needed a better banjo. So he gave him a 1898 model Washburn, White Ladye banjo. What an honor that someone would think that much of a 15 year old boy. Not many people around like that. And there are not too many kids around like that either. Just makes you proud.

It worked for me from a public wireless at my hotel in Oregon; but I have not tried it at home. Have noticed several things I can down load there very well; but not hereon my secured wireless.

Peter I went back and tried it again and it worked for me. Might be something on your firewall or other application. Might try this and go to Echoes 2010 which is the last posted and first to view.

FYI:

I tried the link to the video and the Echoes 2010 link and tested it on three browsers:

• The latest version of Firefox produced the exact same error message that Peter posted.
• Chrome resolved and played the video link fine
• The latest version of Internet Explorer would not resolve the video or produce an error message.

That's strange. I tried it again and it would get the same message and then once more and it was OK. Must be a problem with FB site maybe.

There were probably plenty of jugs in the vicinity but none that could carry a tune.

Red, thanks for posting, and wow, what an honor that someone would give him an instrument like that!!! He's doing great! My oldest is still taking violin lessons and is learning a lot of classical stuff, but she really wants to play bluegrass. The other day, she was messing around and started playing "Wildwood Flower" by ear and sounded really good. She's taught herself to play several other tunes, too, which really tickled her teacher that she is taking the initiative to try new things. Of course, her teacher kind of sniffs at bluegrass, lol, but still appreciates the fact that Cori is working on her own. She takes her fiddle with her everywhere we go and will play for anyone who'll listen. I'm looking forward to the day we can afford to buy her a better instrument. My great-aunt called me up the other day to tell me how much she really enjoyed Cori playing at the family reunion this summer.

That is cool, John. Looks like he's already a pillar of the community like his dad.

FYI - I am using the latest upgraded version of Firefox 3.6.6 - right after the latest buggy version and it played fine.

Ya' never know Homey you might have another Alison Krauss on your hands. She started studying classical of course and soon moved on to blue grass. John I really think your son has a gift there, but then I aint no picker but I do know music when I hear it.

Most of you have never met Redover or his family. I've had that privilege.

The reason I brought it up is that I had a rather lengthy discussion with some of my friends about traditional values and family, and how they have almost disappeared.

That isn't entirely right. John and his wife are not only a lot of fun to be around, they're also Poster Children for what this country used to stand for. From everything I've seen, they've passed that on to their kids.

Norman Rockwell could spend a lifetime just documenting them.

Peter thanks for the kind words but I don't consider myself that far up on the salt box. I just live with the values that my parents had bestowed upon me in my childhood growing up in the Mountain State. I try to pass that along to my children. If nothing else they will know where I come from, what I stand for and the values that I have chosen in life.
