In years gone by I've raced slot cars, bicycles, motorcycles,cars,go-carts, and boats. Only had one first place finish ever...........go-carting. But by far, the most exciting was pushing the little nine foot hydroplane with a 15 horsepower Johnson outboard at over 60 mph. What a rip!!!

Anyone of you folks ever had a need for speed?  :D

1/10 scale electric (battery) RC car (radio control) dirt track racing
1/10 and 1/12 scale electric RC cars on both oval and road courses. Carpet indoor tracks.
   top twos and threes, but always a bridesmaid
    my son was a class winner at age 8 with cars I built, but this is about me.   ;)

drag racing (long time ago);
   driver: lower stock class  [L/S] (one final round win)
   wrench/crew: friends B fuel (methanol only, no nitro) motorcycle (won a whole season until it blew up, never rebuilt)
   photographer/cinematographer: friends BB Funny car - Chevy Vega... how's that for dating myself... (blower, alky, no nitro)

sports car club racing (even longer ago);
   Production & GT classes; A-H Sprite, Volvo 122S.
   club class trophy, 2x

Most fun: the 122S  and the 1/12 scale electric road cars.

Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Well, I didn't used to drive the cars, but was in a lot of unofficial drag racing in high school  ::)  Mustangs, Jaguar XKE convertable & others cars I don't remember...  my brother's Spitfire & Corvette...  Glenn took my Stealth up over 125mph,  & his Dodge Stealth twin turbo up to as fast as it would go - he thinks around 152mph.  He took my dad for a ride in the turbo up over 125mph - my dad loved it!

I'm not so brave anymore  :-\  There's times when I'm w/him in the Bush Hog going down to the spring when it's really muddy & we're halfway tipped over & sliding - I yell at him to let me out so I can walk  :o  :D  He tells me he needs me in there to balance the weight or he'll tip over  d*

ALWAYS loved speed, back in the day when I was younger and bulletproof the Ca. highways were smooth and sweet for high speed runs...NO MORE!  They are craggy, dirty, unrepaired and DEFINATELY not suitable for high speed rips!  You can get a good rush snow skiing, really feel the speed! Even if you are slow!
