I've rode a couple of them. Some day I'd like to have one of my own. Wishful thinking.

now is the time to get one.... can't hardly give them away in the current economy.  Check out your local auctions and craigslist.

Larry Kidd (The Big Kidd) has a couple now. They were free because the owners couldn't afford to keep them.
These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here!

I have held off my son for years from wanting horses.  IMO they are a loosing venture unless you are raising race horses.  Majority of people who have them only ride them 5-10% of the time of ownership and the rest is feeding, vet bills and the like.  I persuaded him to put his money into cattle and swine.  Hey if the market dips you can always eat them.  Oh I know they do that in Europe all the time but I am not into Filly filets.  ;D

We have 2 great horses. Arab... We use them for packing in the Sierras (California).  We spend 2 -3 weeks during summer packing away from everyone.  Rest of the time is training and tril riding in southern California mountians.

They take a little up keep Feed _ Water... triming feet. Mine don't wear  shoes.  Didn't come with the when they were born so they don't need them.

gandalfthegrey you are probably in the minority.  I do enjoy riding myself but have relatives that own them so I am not out the upkeep.  I don't ride enough to keep the cheeks in shape and I can really tell it when I do.

Isn't that illegal in CA and IL? Either way, the PETA people would be knocking down your door before the meal was done cooking.. ;D

Ernest it is my understanding that the US no longer has a slaughter house dedicated for horses.  The last one went out of buisness a few years back.  The finished product was shipped to Europe.
