Darwin Foes Add Warming to Targets

"Critics of the teaching of evolution in the nation's classrooms are gaining ground in some states by linking the issue to global warming, arguing that dissenting views on both scientific subjects should be taught in public schools."

They already use the same methods to trick the ignorant and the gullible: selective quote mining, outright lying, recycling old debunked points over and over, accusing opponents of blindly following the "religion of science," etc. It makes sense for creationists and AGW deniers to join forces in one big anti-science ball of bad craziness.

why do you continue to post these stories every day and egg on confrontations here in the forum?

I think I liked you better when you were planning to build, but then again out of your 530+ posts only three
have been in the building section.

The internet is full of places to go argue, why are you bringing this here?

Off Topic means off topic

People read these and respond with their thoughts.

They don't have to. Neither do you.

Oh, and the idea that only three of my posts were building related is pure nonsense.

Should I be flattered that you're going through my posts? Counting them and categorizing them? How special!

I am curious what credentials you bring to this discussion Rain Dog

Are you specificall highly educated in the areas of Creationism or Climatology?

RainDog

Just as everyone should, learning all the time.  ;D

That does not answer the question.

I would have certainly thought it would, but I'll be more specific.

I'm not a climatologist, no. Neither am I "highly educated in the areas of Creationism". Just a lowly liberal arts degree and a year of commercial dive school is all the formal education I can show.

The great thing is that, especially in the internet age, anyone can access the information necessary for an informed position on nearly any subject.

The sad thing is that, especially in the internet age, that there's a lot of "information" out there that simply isn't indicative of anything other than someone's opinion. "Selective quote mining, outright lying, recycling old debunked points over and over, accusing opponents of blindly following the "religion of science," etc.", as I mentioned earlier.

Folks just need to understand which is which.

Perhaps you could tell us how you can figure out which is which and no one else can.

Have you obatined that credential to make the distinction on "which is which"?

The reason I ask....In The Dunnin-Kruger Effect you mentioned in an earlier thread. You did admit that you do make unsophisticated remarks an not uneducated remarks.

Just that you seem post such items that are confrontational and yet you do not hold credentials in such areas.
You come off with the view that you or I should say your position is the correct one and when someone with a differing view post you tend to dismiss their view/argument and have even suggested that others do not read they just clip and paste or blindly follow.

I find it frustrating to engage you in any discussion because of this behavior.

Lots of people can and do, and even more are fully capable of it, but don't wish to alter their narrative.

It's simple logic.

Everyone makes dumb remarks, "uneducated", "unsophisticated", whatever. I can blurt out things without thinking them through or researching the subject as well as the next guy. I try not to.

And... Though I'd prefer to address everyone all the time, I  do sometimes dismiss arguments that are redundant or that are somehow so illogical that there's nothing to really be said. I may simply miss a post here and there as well.

I've never accused anyone of not reading my posts when it wasn't blatantly obvious that it was the case.

I'm sorry that you find it frustrating to engage me in discussion, but I differ in opinion as to why that is.  ;)

you are right on

RainDog is not interested in discussing topics. It is what in other less polite forums is called a "s#*t stirrer"

someone that perhaps due to a lack of ego stroking in real life needs to spend time on forums stirring up 'issues' so they can demonstrate how intelligent and correct they are

my guess is most of these types are widely ignored in real life because no one can stand their insufferable pompus attitude.

I have decided to ignore it, trying to have a conversation with it is a waste of time.

Often, our ignorance is not as great as our reluctance to act on what we know.

RainDog

And the anti-science crowd has spoken.

Nice to see that they're upset. Cognitive dissonance can be the first step on the road to reality.

RainDog.

I'm working out of town and don't have time to monitor replies on the forum.

One warning.

Cut the rudeness.

Learn how to say it nice or you will no longer be allowed to say it.

If you already consider that as being nice then I'm saying, be nicer.  This warning applies to all topics on the forum.  I will not limit what you say but I will limit how you say it.  Personal attacks and belittling etc are off limits.  I don't want to make a bunch of rules here so the rule is, just be nice.

I try to stay away from the "back-and-forth" Creation debates..

BUT..

I really wish that everyone could agree that Evolution does not disprove Christianity in any way. I was a Christian for a very long time, and I did an absurd amount of research. I don't understand where people get 7,000 years from. There is no timeline in the bible that shows one time period directly after another. If you're wondering, yeah I was a Christian evolutionist. I guess now you could call me Deist/Agnostic.
