There's an old hot rodder adage "If it won't go (fast), chrome it". I've used Firefox since it first came out. It takes longer and longer to load with each improvement. Add to that the new problem I've been experiencing and I'm getting a little bothered, more than a little bothered. So I decided to "Chrome it".   ;D

[new problem is it won't do a right click, save image/file as... I spent hours wading through Firefox help forums and have found no solution. It only does this on my Win7 laptop.   d*  ]

I installed the beta version of Chrome as it will run scads of available extensions or add-ons. It loads/starts blindingly fast. The only Firefox extension I miss is Down Them All. It works a little differently, things like the bookmark tab is in a different place. However, 24 hours into it I'm still pleased.

(Actually the whole hot rodder thing goes like this...
"If it won't go, bore it; if it still won't go, stroke it; if it still won't go chrome it.")

Did you try rebooting your computer - a hard reboot, Don?  I had similar issues with FF and Win7.  A hard reboot took care of it.  Also hard lockups with FF requiring a kill application  through Sysinternals Process Explorer ( or Task Manager).

Daddymem had concerns about Google getting into every detail of your life through Chrome, but what the heck - they already have most of it anyway. [waiting]

Yep. Cold reboots and even removing the battery for a while didn't do a thing for me.  >:(  I've also had a few FF crashes that needed task managers help to get out of. I have liked FF a lot, but it was making life difficult. I'll keep it though and see what it does down the road a ways. I have noticed that IE8 64 bit doesn't have a working flash for it yet; I was having to run IE8 32 bit to get my Napster to run and allow me to save downloads as FF wasn't cooperating. It may be something to do with 32 bit running under 64 bit O/S.   ???

As far as the information collection... anytime anyone is online someone is collecting information, so why sweat it. It's unavoidable. I wonder how many times my picture was taken today going to Walmart, Smith's, the bank ATM, Ron Petersen's Guns, REI, Walgreens, Home Depot, the two army surplus stores and all the traffic cameras along the routes I took?

Anyhow Chrome seems to be working nice, no lockups or crashes yet and that's with up to a couple dozen open tabs.  :D

I got a handy extension named Session Manager. It's like a quick bookmark but just in a list. Quick to mark something you might want to go back to and then maybe never go there again; or go back to later and then properly file the bookmark.
