Unique new age firearm.  Sort of reminds me of the caseless Daisy Heddon that I have from years ago.  Looks to utilize the same design of the projectile but uses electronics to ignite rather than compressed air.  In the early 70's this technology was being tapped into but never materialized.  Well maybe it did but not for the sportsman.

Very interesting...

I don't know how well that would work as a deployed weapon though.  It might be okay for a backup gun, but I can't imagine ground force personnel carrying that as a primary weapon.  How do you reload the thing under pressure?  I don't buy the part that one round can misfire and the next will push it out.  I bet not many armorers are onboard with that idea either.

Your ignition source... electronics and battery better not misfunction either.  The smarts on that thing won't work if a pulse weapon is detonated.

But I do agree..I think it has some interesting possible applications!

Without a casing there would be no drag through the barrel. If the ammo was stacked then the second one would just be pushing the misfire out.  Probably not be as accurate or have the range on that load.  I remember one of the major firearm manufacturers having an article in one of the trade magazines of a prototype of this .  I am talking 30 years ago where the ignition source was a battery concealed in the stock.  If I recall the main reason it really didn't take off that well was the resistence by the brass manufacturers.

In order for the bullet to engage with the rifling, there would be significant drag.  If you look at any of the reloader manuals, as the bullet weight goes up, the maximum powder charge goes down.  I guess you could design the barrel to withstand a double weight projectile...

It seems to me that the tube array just might be disposable in battle field contitions.  It would be like throwing away spent magazines.

For a handgun or rifle, maybe you change out the barrel/s rather than reload a barrel?

When did electronics become reliable?
