We've done a pretty good job of minimizing the commercialization of Christmas at our house. We like to decorate, do lots of special cooking and baking, listen to Christmas music, and focus on the true, original meaning of the season. The good news is it only takes a couple weeks to do this, so I can ignore it until after Thanksgiving. Probably the most preparation I do is rehearsing in the church choir.

Why y'all hatin' on Christmas!?

And I'm with ya Mushcreek. I love Christmas for the season and the gathering of family, weather, food, and general good times. I dunno what happened in my life to make me love Christmas so much, but I do!  ;D

Personaly I think that starting too early ruins it. By the time the day actualy gets here I'm burned out on it. I rather not start the Christmas season till after thanksgiving.

It's not Christmas itself.  It is that September is way too early to even think about it. And it's the thought that Christmas means all the darn ads pushing buy this, buy that.

I am not acting on it yet. Just trying to get some ideas so when November rolls around I can get going.

I like to wait until the day after Thanksgiving myself. But I need this extra time to get some ideasand try to mentally prepare a little.

Oh yes, and I just love to irritate glenn just a little! :P

You are a real thorn in my side, Stinky... but I love you anyway.... :)

Christmas - the biggest commercial celebration of the year..... [waiting]

I'm sorry, Stink, but I subscribe to Festivus for the Restofus.

It will be only me and my aluminum pole, as well as the  "Airing of Grievances" .

What a celebration.... [waiting]

Sassy

Thanks Stinky, at least it won't be so hot in the winter!  I was born in Houston during the middle of July - when I was 2 wks old we had to drive to Nebraska because my grandfather had a heart attack & they didn't think he would live (he did).  Anyway, that was back in the time when most people didn't have air conditioners - you know, the "olden days"  ;D  so I ended up with heat rash all over me - the doc my mom talked to told her to rub me down with rubbing alcohol - I'm sure I wasn't a happy camper  d*  Besides, they kicked my mom & me out of the hospital the day after I was born because they had an outbreak of thrush & didn't want me to get it since I was born a month premature...  so much for my Texas experience  [waiting]

It was pointed out that I am now living in the south. So my Thanksgiving menu should be a southern affair.

I guess I will go get me a Paula Dean Cookbook. More Butter!

Christmas stresses me out too.  My favorite holiday is Easter.

Actually, my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving.

My favorite holiday is any one that allows me a few days at the cabin in the mountains.  ;D
