I got energetic last night (That's Old Guffer talk for couldn't sleep) and decided to cast 1000 230 grain, .452 bullets for my 1911.
I succeeded and this is the first 100 batch.

These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here!

Those look nice Peter. We could use some just like them.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

I'll be casting for the 45/70 tonight and then the 308/30-06 the night after.
I'm going to try paper patching a few 45/70's to get the speed up some. I ordered a custom sizing die from a fellow in California because the Marlin Micro Groove rifling, requires over size cast bullets. .460 is perfect. This will allow me to keep the overall bullet diameter at 460 even with the paper on.
