For the same reasons Glen works with his Firefox tabs, I keep Google on a bar on my browser.    Type in something up there, hit search, and it can open in a new window (if you've set things up that way, much much easier to have that new window).  It will also spell-check, highlight the search (or new) terms on the page.

I just sent off my version of the Grandfather Cottage to Panelwrights in West Virginia, to see what they can do with SIPs.   I'll let you know what I find out...

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

[don't ask me what that means -- it was the default signature.   It's cool, and I'm keeping it.]

It is the default siggy that comes with the "engine" driving this forum: Yet Another Bulletin Board

Keep us in the loop.

I got the quote back from Panelwrights.

The panels and fabrication will be $13,500, plus $6,500 for installation.   It uses 4-1/2" SIP walls and 6-1/2" panels vaulted over the main living area.   I'll be doing trusses over the kitchen area, since it doesn't need to be vaulted.

I know that's significantly higher than a stick-built version, but I really like the idea they can have the shell up in 3 days, and I can continue working on the interior went the weather gets nasty (and it gets my mother-in-law out of the house that much sooner!   :D).

I also changed the floorplan around.   Our mimi is getting older, and we wanted to plan ahead for the time she may be tooling around it in a wheelchair.   I'll post the floorplan in a different post --- I'd like to get y'allz feedback.

Here's one to consider wheel chair folks need lower countertops and most dishwashers won't fit , but there are compact / portable ones and dishwashers that are / will fit in draws so keep those in mind as you do your design of the kitchen cabs , and think about max lower cab storage so she can fend for her self , set it up right she'll be happier and so will you in the long run .

Good luck , I had my Grandmother with me for three years , lots of good and some bad to it all . But on a whole ,a great life experience. PEG
