Are metal studs a good choice for furring out basement walls?

I have never used these before so part of me wants to get the needed studs at our local building salvage center and try it.  But I would like to benefit from the collective wisdom of this ad hoc yet august group....

BTW, this is for furring out at 10' high poured concrete wall....also need to factor in wiring...

Other ideas?

Metal framing is good, though you will need to have (or rent) a powder-actuated nail gun to attach them as well as your tracks to your concrete walls or floors. You will also need a good pair of snips to cut studs and tracks. The studs have wiring openings but you will need to get the plastic grommets you press into them to protect your wiring.

Thanks.  I have one of those Powershot guns that shoots nails into concrete.  .22 shells that fire when struck in the chamber with a hammer.  Will that work?

That should work fine.

In some situations especially temporary (though I may have done as permanent) a 1/4 hole drilled and three 10d or a couple 16 d's and a piece of wire work also.

There are also nails with washers pre-installed in various lengths to prevent shooting through your steel stud or treated 2x.

The steel frame engineered houses I was involved with in Mexico use steel studs entirely along with red iron main framing.

The hot chop saws or even the 1/16 thick grinder cutoff blades work well for cutting

You will also likely need track for the top and bottom - replaces top and bottom plates.
