I have a holder I've been using for years. It holds a half liter (Don't know what that is in real numbers) Bottle. I got the one I've been using at a lab supply house and it was heavy duty and easy to drink from. Zeus did it in today.

The lab supply house is gone. I could use a coke jug but it won't last long. I don't like disposable stuff. Any ideas?

I would recommend a Nalgene bottle.  Get them at REI or any climbing or hiking supply outlet that carries good stuff.  Or their web site is http://www.nalgene-outdoor.com/.  The good hard plastic ones you really cannot hardly break them with normal use.  They used to have a life time guarantee on those.   They are or were pretty much standard equipment for hikers, climbers and trekkers.

Camelback bottles, also available at outdoor equipment stores.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Only advice I have is stainless steel is the best thing you can get health wise.  Plastics can shed toxins into the water when it is hot.  They may have plastic ones by now that don't have that problem I don't know.

There a many of the hard polycarbonate ones without the BPA now.

But Zeus needs a stainless steel bottle; one with 1/8" walls I think would be good.

Although I am a real Nalgene bottle fan.  In this case I will remove my suggestion for Nalgene in favor of a min 1/8 inch stainless steel model that MountainDon suggested.  Might keep Zeus out of the dog house.  Or how about a stainless thermos so Zeus can have a drink as well?

Zeus is gonna stay in the doghouse for a while. He buried one of my camera lenses yesterday. Thankfully, still in the case. >:(
