Looks like Obama finally killed the fools rally. The market thought about all that money we don't have going back into junk bonds.

Are we going to retrace all the way to the bottom?
These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here!

The market is bound to change regardless of the govt. interferrance simply due to the babyboomers aging out of their spending years.  Once people retire they tend to not have as much disposable income.  Economists, govt. and financial managers etc. have neglected to notice this fact for as long as possible when they should have been planning for it. Now we all get to pay the price instead of those in the ivory towers.  I do have a lot of hope for Obama but I can tell you when I read in todays paper how he spoke to the American peopls saying don't expect anything for free.... THAT would have been the thing to say first and FORMOST to the banks, insurance, and car co crooks who have been so quick to take advantage of everyday working Americans.  To hand out billions to the people who should have been protecting thier investors best interests while instead taking as much as possible and stashing it away or spending it lavasishly and then tell the American people who are losing thier homes in CA at an all time high rate to not expect anything from the govt. (they pay DEARLY for) for free?  That is a slap in the face if I ever heard one.  Those billions of dollars could have and SHOULD have been sent out tot he American people and they could have bought cars, insurance, homes, paid overdue bills, sent kids to college, etc. etc. etc.  What are the banks and CEO's doing same as always putting it in their butts.  Damn weirdos.

Tanya,
The richer they get, the better it is for all of us.  They raise the tide and it raises all boats.  They trickle down their wealth all over us.

The only thing that trickled down on me...well, you see where this is going.

Sorry I missed the thread when it came out, I have been away this week for some work related things.

As for the rally we saw, nothing in this market goes up or down in a straight line.  we now return you to our regularly scheduled fear mongering and pillaging of your life's work.

tanya - great rant.

The financial markets wont be stable until they regulate the financial industry in a way that reflects honest income and outflow.  Until then it is paper shuffling at the taxpayers expense of course.  Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of payback plan to the taxpayers?  I sure haven't heard ANY details on that. And my last thought is why does our president think people are expecting anything for FREE?  Those damn govt. programs are bought and paid for by US taxpayers.  Maybe it is the less fortunate amongst us that receives a pitiance but we ALL pay and there is no reason at ALL that we shouldn't expect something for our money.  Something more than govt. employees sititng around shuffeling papers.  In WA we pay 20 BILLION dollars a year for our social services. For that price we should have a personal assistant or nanny in each and every home.  Instead we have a bunch of crooks lining their pockets while children and the disabled or elderly die!!!  It is crimminal and the people in charge should be held accountable.  From the top right on down.  Until we ALL stand up and let the govt. know we are not falling for the economic status baiting and instead require accountability we will continue to let the less fortunate suffer needlessly while crooks and lazy govt. workers line their pockets with fools (taxpayers) gold.  Taxpayers pay for services they want services not excuses, stonewalling and the like.  Services. IF the govt. cannot deliver then by all means contract the jobs out, if they still can't or wont deliver then why should we continue to pay for it?  So govt. workers can sit at a desk being all self important and shuffling papers and gather their pay?  A lot of people are losing their jobs and the need for services grows while the state collects stimulas monies and still sticks with business as usual policy and procedure.  Shuffle the papers, collect the pay, and let the disabled, elderly and helpless children fend for themselves. For alll the talk of accountability in govt. today I still have not seen ANY. The money continues to flow from the taxpayers to the govt. or Govt. sponsored corporations but no one sees it again after that.  Instead of sending tea to Washington on all fools day all US fools (taxpayers) should  have a nice day off, and not spend a single penny.  NO sales tax, no income tax.  PERIOD see how they like us then.

hi muldoon,

  this may be trivial but after seeing the thomas payne(i think), video on you tube on the glen beck program, i decided to wear a tea bag pinned to my shirt or clothes to show my support for a new boston tea party. these tea parties are starting to gather momentum and i just want to show my allegiance to the idea in some small way. i just want to throw the bums out!
  as much as i want obama to do well for our country, i have to admit that in all areas of his efforts i am becoming increasingly concerned at his naivite'/crookedness?  and courses of action. i did not vote for him but now that we have him i was hoping for the best. :-[
unless we recognize who's really in charge, things aren't going to get better.

Limited government. It's as simple as that. The Founders understood that gov't is not a panacea. It is nothing more than an institution for the application of force. In its most highly developed form, the very most it can do for us is maintain a balance between liberty and security. That's all the good it can do, ever, at best.

The problem comes in when we succumb to the notion that gov't is an all-purpose tool, able to accomplish anything we want it to. It only has force to work with, so the more we ask of it, the more force it will apply to us, the governed. Clearly, force is not always the correct approach to problem solving, but we ask gov't to do things for us that we should be doing for ourselves in spite of that fact. The unfortunate truth is that as a group, we are appallingly ignorant because we are too lazy to observe, read and think, and stubbornly attached to the naive dream of a benevolent omnipotentency that will provide for all our needs and wants at little or no cost or inconvenience to us. Ergo, we get the gov't we deserve, a corrupt, greedy, bloated bureaucracy mirroring a society with a corrupted, self-serving, can't-do-enough for me view of what the proper functions of gov't are.

Until we face the facts that:

gov't is force, and only force;

that force is applied by men, who are human and therefore subject to fallibility at every turn;

gov't must first take from someone else what it distributes to another;

force is not the answer to all problems;

chairity must be voluntary, otherwise it is nothing more than robbery;

to enjoy liberty, each of us must take responsibility for our own needs and the consequences of our actions and decisions;

and finally, understand the profound immorality of trying to get our personal needs and wants satisfied by gov't force applied against our fellow citizens;

until then, we will be saddled with a ruling class of our own creation and their swarms of venal apparatchiks who will eat out our substance until our entire society collapes from within.

I suggest we begin the recovery process by each of us reading the Declaration of Independence every Sunday morning until we know it by heart. Maybe some of that wisdom will sink in..............

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
