Our legislature here in WA has taken action to make the DSHS children's admin. contract out child welfare services to performanced based contractors.  This is SOOOO good for WA kids.  Wr have had a number of child fatalities due to improper DSHS policy/care over the past few years.  CPS cases either not being investigated properly or just plain outright neglect by state workers.  This has cost millions in court settlements.  Not to mention the poor dead children and their families/communities.  SO it sounds like a great idea, the DSHS sucks get some private folks in there who aren't afraid to do a little real work.  What does our "Centurist" Gov. do she says she will veto it, the Seattle times actually pulls the story that the legislature passed the bill!!!  Now this very gov. was attorney general for a long time before she became gov. she is on her second term as gov.  Her policies and mismanagement are directly responsible for the 20 billion wasted taxpayer dollars that go to the DSHS EACH YEAR!!!! IF she doesn't take responsibility for correcting this current situation with these kids/families in need then I hope someone starts impeachment proceedings tommorrow!!!!  There is NO accountability in that agency whatsoever, never has been never will be they are worse than the banks!!!! AND last but not least I hate CENTURISTS George Bush was one to and I am sure it means, take as much taxpayer money as you can get your hands on while you can and pass as many facist policies as you can while you can.  I have to say though that our legislature is doing some great stuff for vulnerable/disabled adults and poor children I am very very proud of their efforts.

Well I went back tot he site and searched child welfare and there it was but you can't read the whole article unless you click on the print version and the reader comments are not available although there are 19 posted.  The article was posted early AM on the front page and buried buy 10am when I went online.  AND it wasn't several deaths it was DOZENS I am ssoooo peeved how can this go on and on and on and the taxpayers continue to fund it?  It makes me SICK!!!

There is another bill that breaks the DSHS into different entities as well.  There is 20 billion to waste on inefficient policy/procedures every year but not enough to fund a Better way of doing business WITHOUT the DSHS/GOV. COW BARN STENCH!!!  At least private contractors will be fired and held to professioanl standards if they don't meet the terms of thier contracts, all state employees get is a note in their personnel file that no one ever sees.  They don't even have to have a professional license that is required of private contractors providing the very same service.  If a client makes a complaint of abuse/neglect by a caseworker, the state themselves investigates???  That has got to be unethical at best.
