I'm currently employed.....three of us still have a job out of twelve field guys. The main reason for myself is because I have a CDL. (and Ohm's Law)

I left the time line open on this poll. And the ability to change votes.

Will the stimulus help us.  ???

Like to hear from you folks.

From what I have heard I do not think that it will pull us out of the immidiate problems.  The stimulus is a long term goal which might have effect on the long term after we have already went down with the ship. But can we tread water as long as it will take.  I doubt it.

Employed.
We own the business.
I think that is a big plus in many ways; a shortcoming in other ways.

Will I/we feel a difference from the porkulis? Well, it appears we'll have some reduction in the tax load, but other than that .... only time will tell.   I think we'll be shafted in a way, because ever since we've known each other we've managed to do more things correctly than wrong, made better decisions rather than poor/foolish ones most of the time.

...just heard that one of our local Dodge dealers has closed.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

 Porkulis?? [rofl2]

Is that Latin?

I'm self-employed, so long as the phone keeps ringing...

But if my customers lose their jobs, I expect I will have to lay myself off.

I'm employed, But too many people in the area aren't anymore. The industry in this country is almost all gone. You can try to stimulate the economy all you want, but without the factory base /industrial /manufacturing jobs, it wont do much.

I am employed.  The porkulis will help me dramatically, in an indirect way.  The wars helped out a huge amount and aren't even close to over.  This should push business into hyper drive, unless the government just starts printing money to pay for it.  The government uses every law it has to go after people for money when it deficits spends (taxes, money laundering, sec violations.) Thanks to the patriot act they have every power they need to do it, too. Wars cost money, so do stimulus packages.  You couldn't get indicted for tax evasion if you tried in the 90's.  My employment is not a good sign for society.

Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House. One is from Chicago ,  another is from Tennessee , and the third is  from Minnesota .

All three go with a White House official to examine the fence.

The Minnesota contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil.
"Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The Tennessee contractor also does some  measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700: $300 for
materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me .

The Chicago contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers, "$2,700."

The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?" The Chicago   contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Tennessee to fix the fence

"Done!" replies the government official.

And that, my friends, is how the new stimulus plan will work.
