It would even colder up here without our big firepits----we have over 40 active volcanoes in Alaska. I just bought some extra dust masks in case Mt Redoudt gets carried away. Everything up here tends to be sort of overdone----we have 33,000 miles of coastline (more than all the rest of the US) and over 10,000,000  lakes of 20 acres or larger----no one has ever counted the smaller ones. We're fond of threatening to split the state in half and making Texas the third biggest state.  Plus-----we definitely have the hottest governor!

Gotta love the land of fire and ice...I'm just glad I'm in the Panhandle.  Totally different country down here.  We once had to take our daughter to a medical specialist and for various reasons ended up going to Utah.  Our closest options were either Seattle or Anchorage.  I couldn't convince the doctor that it took just as long to fly to Anchorage on 747's from where I live as it does to fly to Salt Lake City.  LOL  Not to mention, medical care and accommodations were WAY cheaper in SLC.

I do love the 1 mil lakes joke...poor minnesota.  They're less likely than a Texan to shoot me when mad.  ;)  Actually, shear ignorance about Alaska leads people to believe a great deal of propaganda nonsense.  It was a regular riot act when greenpeace came to SE Ak.  lol
