Many people are giving up microwaves due to studies however my experience is that in 20 years every study is reversed and the exact opposite is true.  Possibly Microwaves will be found to be the fountain of youth.  [waiting]

I welcome examples of proven deaths from microwaves (not standing in front of an antenna focal point)...

OK -- microwave ovens, or growths, new appendages, etc proven to be caused by microwaves.

Please -- no growths or mutations caused by eating at your favorite fast food joint. [crz]

I guess we can't cook our food with cell phones either.  I would be lost w/o mine.  Doesn't make the meter base run as fast as the stove top.  But you wouldn't know about that being that you are operating under the radar.   ;)

The only thing that I have stressed with my other chef's is not to use plastic wrap around the food when you heat it up. I had read a report of the chemicals released when heating it in the microwave.  I just grab a paper towel.

glenn kangiser

I heard about that also but when we mentioned it to Jonesy, he sent back info that the wrap and many food plastics did not contain the toxins as other plastics did.  Another bad study was wrong about that.  Maybe Sassy can find his e-mail.

I find it near impossible to live without mine --not enough time in the day otherwise.

The cell phone myth was tested and found to not work - they will not cook an egg according to the last report I read.  A microwave antenna is supposed to be able to barbecue a stupid worker though.

I Don't have any reports or know of any deaths that link microwaves as being harmful.

I do think they should be used as little as possible.

My ex-wife died from brain tumors. tumors have been on the rise in recent years.

I don't think they have a cause pin pointed but microwaves, cell phones, high voltage transmission line.
Farm raise fish, Wild caught fish, farm raised beef, chicken, pork all get fingers point at them.

You could hold your breath and not eat or drink anything but that would probably kill you too. d*

The real danger in the microwave is the processed food that is put inside it.

An official but little publicized study found that if you eat nothing but food prepared in a microwave, eventually you will die.  c*

I would have to find an alternative to the Microwave that is fast to stop using it, Whitlock.

Maybe a 120  volt A/C fork? hmm

That looks faster and far more fun than a microwave to me. I don't like the micro because I don't like the way it heats unevenly.  I've heard debate for years about whether it is bad for you to cook with one, but the biggest reason I don't is that I don't like them.  Last night I tried to use the supposedly time-saving device to cook some broccoli while all the burners on the stove were busy with other goodies.  The bread was baked and dinner on the table before the darn stuff was finally warm all the way through!  And still I found the occasional cold piece, and there were other pieces that were overcooked and tough.  I would just as soon do without one.  A waste of space for mediocre food, IMO.  Usually, I reheat leftovers on the stove or in the oven, or even in the hot ashes from the fire.  All three methods work better than the microwave, though OMMV.  Maybe it because I had to eat so much junk out of the microwave when I was a kid... my mom isn't really a cook, and when I was about ten, she got our first microwave and she thought it was the greatest thing since leavened bread... she used to make me use it when she was gone to work, although I was allowed to use the gas stove, too.

glenn kangiser

Hmm - that's a little better than my barbecue lighter. Maybe fast enough. :)

This is enlightening!!!! This is probably what it does to our brain power - like putting your head in a microwave, eh? Check this out! And we're supposed to believe that cell phones are safe?
