Replaced the Keyboard on my laptop tonight.  I was losing my "s" and other assorted maladies.



Most of the repair manuals are online.

How is the addon keyboard, sideways, attached to the right side used? I don't understand.

Cool, how much did the replacement keyboard set you back?

I usually find key issues is due to dirt under the keys, and can typically be fixed by popping the single key cap off, cleaning out the dirt, and putting it back.

Don, that is for when I have to post my slanted views.  

Note that many of the keys only had half a letter on them or less also.

I think you are right about the dirt - dust etc.  Surprising what finds it's way in there, Hog.  Many letters were worn out too, and it was so cheap I thought I would just do it. 

The new keyboard was $24 and change plus shipping - I think it came out to $32 all together.  Looks like an upgraded OEM product.  Other places were 34 or more plus shipping.

I d/l'd the repair manual from HP -- also got one from Dell for Whitlock, but we didn't do as well with his.  Seems the companies would rather give out the manuals than be bothered with every tiny little problem.
