Christmas in a depressed economy. What do people do? Tighten their belts, get a second job, Hell no. They sell something. But they have to steal it first. I got up this morning and went outside to work on something...and someone had stolen the two ATV's I had here.

Damn that makes me mad! >:(

Ah crap!!

Sorry to hear that, Peter.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Sorry to hear that, Peter.

It is one of those things that makes me feel helpless.....and I don't like feeling that way! They didn't touch the Whizzers or motorcycle or the rifle and shotgun in the truck. I guess they didn't have room. I'm going to spend a few nights outside and see if they are stupid enough to do it again.

I had the Sheriffs dept here. I needed a report number, other than that I wouldn't have bothered. The Hanover Sheriffs department is worse than no help. I also don't know if my Homeowners covers them. I've never put in a claim for anything.....

Damn, I;m mad!

What is the world coming to anyway.  Theivry is not new to me but it still piss's me off.  >:(  Had a friend from Md that is building a barn & orchard near the house.  Heard that someone broke into his barn and stole his air compressor.  That is only 1/2 mile from the house or the cabin.  Little scarey but most know me and figure that I will leave them lying if they try. Lets hope they retain that train of thought.

Hope you had insurance?

Don't recon that your enemies (dog hunters) did it out of spite do you?

Maybe another game cam pointed in the direction of your valuables might be on your christmas list now?

fishing_guy

A good use for the wildcam's during the "off" season...
A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work any day, but building something with your own hands beats anything.

That sucks!

It reminds me of a member on another forum that had a quad stole a few years back. A few month after it was taken, the sheriff contacted him and said they had it.
When he picked it up, the thieves had put new tires on it and it ran the same as before.   :o
With any lucky you could come out ahead.

I second the use of game cams for security.
Home is where you make it

I know this sounds stupid but it works...

string fishing line all around your stuff so it creates a tripwire and set it up so there is something loud like pop cans or chimes, or a bell or some thing. when they get too close itll alert you. Most criminals wont stick around too long after any noise too. I've used this before to make sure coyotes didn't get my deer at camp.

If you setup a game camera it might be on their wishlist too.

bummer, things will get worse.
unless we recognize who's really in charge, things aren't going to get better.

lonelytree

Sorry to hear about your loss. The Bottom Dwellers are out in force. Alarm it, lock it and insure it.

Squirl

I am very sorry for the loss of your vehicles.  At least you are all right.  What put it in perspective for me was I had a bike stolen a few years back.  While sitting in the police car filling out the report, I heard over the radio about someone who was killed over a parking spot.  Some things are more important, at least you are all right.

Sure would be nice if people would just enjoy Christmas for the right reasons.  They could try putting the Christ back in it.  Hope all goes better for you, and you can look past this to enjoy the holiday.  On the bright side (not much of one admittedly), at least you were fortunate enough to have had 2 ATV's to get stolen!
just spent a few days building a website, and didn't know that it could be so physically taxing to sit and do nothing all day!

desdawg

Well Peter that sucks. Aound here we have an overabundance of tweakers and an underabundance of law enforcement. Nearly everyone out here is armed in some fashion but the fools seem to have a deathwish. In my experience filing police reports is just an exercise that produces nothing more than a piece of paper with a log number. No follow through froom that point on. And no communication unless I initiate it. I have way too much experience being the victim of theft.
I have done so much with so little for so long that today I can do almost anything with absolutely nothing.

glenn kangiser

I think you have it nailed, des.

glenn kangiser

It's not bad, John.  I sell my body for money nearly every day. [waiting]

Well, insurance doesn't cover them so I have to bite the bullet.

We have to have at least one to function on the farm so I started looking for a used one. Nothing that strikes me as a good deal yet.

I posted a 500.00, you don't need to talk to the cops reward, on Craigs List.
I'll catch whoever did it eventually, but I expect the ATV's are already sold. This kind of thing they always have to talk to other people and there is no honor among thieves.
