Just saw that the house voted the bail out down.  I bet they'll come up with another cock-eyed scheme in a day or two.  Of course the MSM is already reporting that stocks are plummeting, etc., trying to incite more panic.  Guess my mom should have sold her Exxon-Mobil stocks when they were high.

The Republicans are saying Pigloski's speech PO'ed them.

I listened to it and to be honest, if my head was on fire and I was voting on getting water, I'd have voted against her just out of spite! ???

If they pass something tonight, I doubt the market will be better than flat for a day or two, certainly until the Senate passes it and Bush signs it.

I'm baffled. There is a bargain out there assuming  the roof doesn't come down....damned if I know what it is though.
These here is God's finest scupturings! And there ain't no laws for the brave ones! And there ain't no asylums for the crazy ones! And there ain't no churches, except for this right here!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrlQNz31n34  .. what did he say towards the end?

No hearings.  Under Congressional martial law.  Apparently they can suspend the rules of the house and make changes to the bill and force the vote without letting the house members read it now.  desperate times and all that..

More explanations on congressional martial law.

How can unlimited debt and bailouts with money that isn't theirs make the market recover for real --- I think it's blown up --- another one of the Bush admin. nuke jobs.

I just don't see anyway for the stock market to get any credibility.  It has been caught with the whore next door and I don't think the wife is going to let it come back in the house. [crz]

I did some checking up on who voted for/against it.  You can bet nobody who voted for the "bailout" will be getting my vote, but from what I could tell, all our reps except Tom Cole voted against.  He's not in our district... just south of here.  Fallin voted against, and she's our rep.  I just don't get how anyone thinks this is a good idea!  Our WI realtor told me on the phone the other day that she thought they'd "better hurry up and pass it."  She sounded totally driven by fear.  One of the TX reps, I believe, said something along the lines of if we lose our ability to fail, it won't be long before we also lose our ability to succeed.  I hope Washington and the rest of the country were listening.  DH and I took the kids to the lake to ride their bikes and we noticed a lot of dealer's tags on cars in the parking lot, and couldn't help but marvel that people seem to still be spending and going like usual.  The local news pretty much glazed over the economic situation in order to get to the REAL news about OKC's new NBA team unveiling their new colors and logo today.

Well, I know our representative voted for it  >:(  A friend sent me a letter he rec'd back today from Radanovich...

"Thank you for contacting me regarding the Economic Recovery Package. I appreciate hearing from you on this critical piece of legislation.

America is facing a financial crisis that stretches far beyond Wall Street, to the pockets of every person on Main Street. For this reason, on September 29, 2008, I voted in support of H.R. 3997, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act. If it had passed, H.R. 3997 would protect the financial and economic future of every constituent in my district.  I have serious concerns with the consistency with which private industry has turned to the Federal Government for a bailout but I determined this situation was too dire, the consequences too grave, and the repercussions too far reaching, for me to ignore.

The financial rescue plan that was delivered by Treasury Secretary Paulson was far from palatable and in need of serious reform.  House Republicans negotiated a rescue plan that addressed many of the issues created by toxic mortgage backed securities while providing maximum protection to taxpayers.

The rescue package I voted to support was not perfect, but when weighed against the impending financial crisis, this legislation was needed to ensure our economic security. Unfortunately, I fear the failure of H.R. 3997 in the House of Representatives will produce a bill that will have fewer protections for the American taxpayer and further the private sectors' dependency on government intervention.  This is absolutely the worst possible scenario and I urge Speaker Pelosi to avoid this at all costs.

H.R. 3997 was the best bill available to vote for and I did not take this decision lightly.  I thank my constituents who have called and emailed over the past week to provide me with their opinions and insights. Rest assured, I will continue negotiations with my colleagues in crafting an economic recovery package that ensures the most taxpayer protection and is able to be signed into law.

Finally, I encourage you to visit my website at www.radanovich.house.gov to get the most current information on my work in Congress. Once again, thank you for contacting me.  Please keep in touch.

Time to start lobbying for him to be ousted in the election!  It is a bunch of crap when they aren't listening to the people they're supposed to represent.  As I hear it, there is an unprecedented number of calls, faxes, and emails pouring in, and most are against the bail out.  I say let the economy fail.  We'd probably be in much better shape in the long run for it.

Exactly, Homey -- let's rough it for a while.  I want to sell tin cups on Wall Street.  Woith no speculators oil prices will come down but then -- we won't need it as we won't have to go to work.  How's that garden coming along.... hmm

Don't get me wrong - I don't want our country to fail.  I want our country back.

My rep, Culbertson voted no so I dont have to do this as well.  However, I was prepared to write a check to whoever was running against him this morning and date it 10/1/2008.  Then copy the check and fax it to him and tell him I was voting for someone who would listen.  Might be effective.  They seem to understand that.  When I called his office on Friday the aid told me they were running about 50/50, half the people were saying no and the other half were saying hell no.

Here's some more commonsense talk from Ron Paul who has predicting this for quite some time because of the Federal Reserve & the printing of fiat money...  he's writing a bill right now to demand an audit of the Fed's - why in the world haven't they ever been audited?  And we trust them?

The IMF, or international money fund (like a central bank on a global level), announced an audit of the federal reserve back in late June of this year.  Apparently, it was quite a stir.  Based on the news reports at the time president Bush agreed to it under an important condition.  The audit could begin this year but could not be completed until he had left office.

I vaguely remember something about that & thought, yeah, sure, Bush wants to get away before all the doodoo flies...  the IMF is located in Switzerland in a regular no-man's land fortress, isn't it?  All the central banks throughout the world run their money through - and if I recall correctly, it's never been audited either & you need special clearance to go in...  you know how secretive the Swiss Banks are...  ::) So is the bill Ron Paul is working on or was working on the same or is this something different?  They just need to get rid of the Federal Reserve - why do we need to pay them to print up fiat money when we can print up our own?   d*
