Treasury claims power to seize gold and silver -- and everything else

Topic on the gold forum.  As I mentioned there - when I saw all of the new gold rush stories in the MSM -- everywhere --- I was pretty sure something was up -- too much of a coincidence not to be.

We will be the hoarders and gatherers - they will be the plunderers.

It appears from the letters from the treasury official cited on the gold forum that such a seizure could only happen during wartime, and only after congress declared that war, which has not happened since 1941.  Now, if you are afraid the government could break the law and seize your gold anyway, I suppose they could do anything, like rape our women, or drink our milkshakes.  Personally, I'm not hiding the flatware.  Not just yet.

prior to 1971 gold was money, and for the us government to issue currency they needed gold to back it.  It made sense to secure your gold from confiscation during troubled times as the government may "need" it to expand monetary base during times of crises.  They don't need your gold to issue currency anymore, nor is gold particularly money anymore.  Sure it has value, but gold is only money in the same sense that copper or steel is money.

personally, I would rather have seeds in the freezer than gold in the safe.

The rule of heavy metal.

Thems that has the gold, makes the rules.

Thems that has atomic number 82.... Lead, can take the gold and thereby, control the rules ;D
