Concrete for Foundation--Pricing?

I'm getting quotes on a perimeter foundation (not post and pier) and don't have any way of calculating a rough cost for the whole job.  I've been quoted $450 a cubic yard. ??

Quotes in this area range from $120-150 a lin ft on a standard 8' high basement for poured walls.

No basement, walls probably 30 inches above ground and a foot below.

I've just priced out the materials for mine, which is a 4ft x 8" fully-grouted block wall, 30" below grade and 18" above.  It looks like it's gonna come in at about $60/ft just for the materials and backhoe.  That's CA prices, miles from anywhere, built to hold a lot of snow and earthquakes (18" x 10" footings, 3 x #4).  Just the backhoe work comes in at something like $1K (including some utility trenches) and 3000psi concrete's basically $150/yd by the time all the surcharges are included.  If you use the ever-so-approximate 50% labor/50% materials (crude, but often a good guess) then that would be more like $120/ft built, which is in the ballpark of what neighbors have been quoted for something similar.

Ouch!  I was hoping to get by for less than $10,000.  I have about 150 running feet, maybe a bit more.  I'm in an earthquake zone too.
