I need some help.  I am looking for some really stout brackets for bracing up timbers.  My birdsmouths on my 4x6 rafters are pretty poor and I need some steel 90 degree brackets to keep them from rolling.  I know I can get them custom made, but does anyone have any suggestions where I may find some online?  I want the big stout ones that I can lag in, none of the cheesy ones you can get at the Depot.

Many thanks.

If you have the ability to drill steel and cut, and if you can find a suitable square or rectangular tube you can make them. I've done that, but it does require tools for the job, cutting especially.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Yeah, do not have the capacity to do that.  Been searching online again with no luck.  Thanks for the advice though.

Humm if your cuts are that bad your in for more trouble when you go to sheathing but Simpson has some pretty beefie stuff ,
look at this link if they arn't heavy enought you got real issues ,  :o

or what if you shimmed all your rockey , out of plane rafters with cedar , or some other type shim , the plastic kind maybe , and then run a big lag bolt  , say 1/2" x 5" down thru the top of the rafter and  into your top plates , won't meet any code but maybe thats not a issue for you :-/
When in doubt , build it stout with something you know about .

Code it not an issue.  It's a hunting camp with no power or running water (yet).  It was tough to get the birdsmouths proper in 4x6 rafters with a standard skill saw, with which I am obviously not very skilled.  I will probably do some shims and probably should have done that sooner.  I will also check that link.

Thanks.
