Anyone know anything about removing Aesbestos tile?  Is it DIY able, or does it have to be proffessionally done.

What is the condition of the tile? Does it crumble easily making dust? If so it is considered friable and is dangerous. In that case a pro should probably be used for removal. If the tile simply fractures then it is likely to be considered non-friable. In that case it is less dangerous.

If it is on a floor than can be wet (concrete slab) you can wet the area down. That keeps any dust out of the air.

Floor tile than contains asbestos is one of the least dangerous forms of asbestos as the asbestos was mixed with a binder that holds the fibers within the tile unless the tile is badly worn or damaged.
Just because something has been done and has not failed, doesn't mean it is good design.

Thanks,  I was looking at a house the other day and trying to decide if I'd bother removing it or if I'd just put laminate on top.  It's on a slab, and doesn't look like it would crumble.  In truth I don't even know if it is aesbestos tile just looks like it.

When I did insulation work we would have to remove asbestos siding. As long as you don't cut them and wet them down first you should be fine. Avoid any activity that would cause dust to kick up, and get a really good quality respirator.
