Hardie board corner trim

Of those of you using Hardie board siding, how did you attach your corner trim boards?  I saw a youtube video where they used some small nails and attached some metal tabs on the backside and nailed through these tabs to attach the boards to the house.  I think the tabs were actually a Hardie accessory.  It would prevent any filling of nail heads but didn't seem that secure of a way to mount the trim.  What do you think?

Grover on ours we / they used just a  batten type corner

We used the Hardi 5/4 cement fiber trim and air nailed (14 gauge 2 1/2" galvanized finish nails) the trim at the corners and windows before the lap siding was hung. Nail holes were filled with the same caulk used at joints, etc. before painting.

Rick, that is the type corner I'm talking about.  The question was the method of attachment.

Don, your approach seems the easiest and most sensible but as I said Hardie makes tabs just for the purpose of attaching trim, even the window trim.

The corners and trim is all done first of course then they just infilled.  They shot the corners on with  the same nails they nailed the siding on with.  I will have to look seems they shot something on with a heavy finishing nailer.        Like Don did.

I believe those are new, at least newer than our cabin. Never saw those in the Hardie catalog back then.
